Avery's POV… “It seems you've lost your sense of reasoning, Miss Patricia, you're not making any sense at all.” I said to her, not taking any of her words seriously and she chuckled. “Haven't you heard about werewolves? I am sure you must have read them in books, right? They are fucking real, you must have communicated with a few of them already.” Miss Patricia said and I swallowed so hard, now she is freaking me out already.

The pack now faced a new challenge—one that required careful planning and coordination. With renewed determination, Eva, Damien, Jayden, and Erica gathered the pack for a pivotal conversation. They shared the informant's revelations and debated the best course of action. The conversations were intense, reflecting the diverse perspectives within the pack. Rowan's Question Rowan asked her a question on a morning in late summer that she had not expected and that sat with her for days afterward. They were doing the eastern patrol review — a bimonthly thing, since the Greymaw boundary resolution, less urgent than it had been but still requiring proper attention. The patrol maps were spread across the table in the small meeting room and they were working through the last quarter's incident logs with the efficiency they had developed for this kind of joint task.

Well maybe during the patrol run I can figure out what my mom found out from my dad. An hour later, while out on the patrol run I tried different ways to get dad to spill the beans on what mom found out, but he instead changed the topic to asking me about terms I knew and what I am supposed to be looking for on these patrols. After almost 2 hours of trying I gave up that he was going to tell me anything and focused on the terms and the patrol. *********** HAVRITH POV

I want to get back to normal. *** Trent POV My paws pound against the forest floor, kicking up small little clouds of dirt and leaves as trees buzz past. I don’t care who or what I’ll find. I want at least one aspect of this nightmare to end. Through the pack link, I ask the patrol who spotted the intruder, “How many did you see? Did you recognize them? Did you spot anything odd or different about them?” More questions bubble up, but I keep them to myself.

Pete tried to use his collar to cover his neck covertly. "I could have sworn I didn't see that on your neck yesterday Pete. That means it happened last night" Rovak continued. "Are we allowed to have pets here, I didn't know that" Liam asked in blissful ignorance. "I don't think dogs do that, it looks like a wolf" Tanner added, taking interest in the conversation now. "You think?" Rovak asked. Frank went into a coughing fit, "Are you okay Frank?" Liam asked. "Just...need...water" Frank replied.

I look at Liam, who looks at me, “Luna, I implore you to respect my…” Everyone goes silent, waiting for the conversation between him and I to finish. “Well Liam here knows a little something about paternal wolf licking, don’t you Liam? Something you wanna share with the group?”. He stalks over to me, kneeling at my feet, dropping his head shamefully on my lap. “Baby… why??”.

Mike nods at me and we leave the building together. Zeus and I are both excited to get to Patty’s to see our girls. I feel like I am speeding like a mad man but only crawling like a turtle. It seems like it takes forever to get there. Finally I pull up to Patty’s. The diner is packed, and I see Patty inside hustling about. I look into the surrounding trees and see the glowing eyes of several of my pack members, in wolf form, patrolling the space to protect their Luna.

We’d settled into a new rhythm over the past few weeks. Every morning, after the first round of patrol reports and healer updates, we held a short meeting—Lucian, me, Rowan, Rhea, Fen, and whichever betas needed to weigh in. Hunters. Scouts. Sometimes, an elder or two who’d finally decided I wasn’t going to turn them into toads. We talked about food, borders, training, and repairs. We talked about wolves who were still struggling with nightmares, about pups who were suddenly sleeping through the night for the first time in years.
