His fur sizzled with smoke and a burnt patch of fur was under his jaw. He shook himself and the fur fell to the ground, turning to cinders. The pendant wouldn't let him touch it. His eyes glowed bright as he tried to heal the patch but it didn't work. He looked at me angrily and charged. He was faster than lightning– the Sapphire was enhancing his speed–and I had no idea when he smacked me with his paw. I felt a bone in my neck crack and I was on the floor. In a blur, all I could see were paws and claws going at my skin, tearing my fur and ripping my flesh.

Liam P.O.V. I can’t wait to see Maddie’s face when she sees what I have up my sleeve today. I know she is sad her brother had to leave for his pack, so I planned a little something for her. Not without help from my mother, I might add. Otherwise this would have not happened. I smile to myself. So much has changed already. People are accepting of Maddie and her gifts, and they are getting more used to animals running in and out of the pack grounds. We have not had any big wounded visitors since the day Piper brought her friend back, but he has been back multiple times on his own. Maddie says it’s to say thank you, and I have to take her word for it.

I was about to be mauled to death. "It's okay..." I say tensely. My body trembling with fright. "Here, you can have him back. You see I was protecting him. There was an eagle and it was going to get him but he's okay. See, you're welcome..." Slowly but surely I put Poppy back onto the floor and it padded towards his mother. Yet, the mother still growled. I backed up... "Where is Paw Patrol when you need em'." The dog barked, hard and loud, and I didn't grasp the level of stupid I am until that very moment when I pointed at the dog and yelled, "Bad dog!"

Maddie POV I sigh as I pat Lila’s back, trying to reason with her, “Lila, he is a werewolf, and you are a human. Don’t you want to date a human boy?” I ask her. Lila huffs as she rolls over on the bed, sobbing tragically, “But Maddie, did you see his abs and how brave he is!? He is a leader and so hot.” She says, with snot dripping down her nose.

Maddie came back with a shock to her body full of pain. The transition was so great that she groaned and doubled for a moment. Raven's face was contorted with pain and gray in color. Maddie closed her eyes. There was the fourth element she needed, the element of fire! She focused on the name she had been given, Lexan, defender of humanity.

I often wondered how my father was able to tame Knight. He said it took years of practice, but my wolf is more stubborn than his. I see Alex more like Kaira, my mother's wolf. She is impulsive to date, no matter how my mother tries to mask it. Kaira is the most impatient wolf I have ever met, followed by Aurora, Aunty Amelia's wolf. I wondered if Onyx was like that, too. A group of other pups from the Scarlett Vale pack arrived to play. I reminded them to stay within the scent-markers and let them go.
