“But this asshole pissed me off.” Calloway raised an eyebrow, his expression otherwise unreadable. Lila crossed her arms, amusement flickering in her eyes. “What did he do to piss you off?” Ryder’s cheeks burned. He didn’t know how to say it without sounding like a complete idiot. “Well, he… knocked me off the puck earlier, and he—he said the team needs him…” The words trailed off lamely, and Jax hid a faint smirk.

What if he gets sick? Ryder was in such a gloomy mood, that she almost cried right on spot. However, she steeled her heart, bit down on her lip, and returned inside the house. Her parents had already gone to their room the moment they saw that Ryder came back, so all the lights were off except the lights on the hallway of the second floor. It was already too late, but Ryder didn't want to go to her room yet, so instead, she went inside the kitchen and sat on the counter, letting out a long dispirited sigh. The color of her eyes had turned dull as she stared in the darkness, her eyes unfocused. She stayed like that for a while, deep in thoughts but not thinking about anything at the same time

The kid shook his head angrily, and I left Sebastian to deal with the tantrums of a sixteen-year-old pup. I finally located Ryan and Patrick, running forward excitedly when I saw they had cornered Brady. Patrick was missing patches of fur. Superficial claw marks scraped through the bald patches, and he was hurt. But his determination seeped through as Ryan and he stalked forward. Brady’s white-gold fur was matted with blood, one eye was shut, and he appeared to have an uneven gait as he braced himself for the attack.

“No, I didn’t tell her. I’ve been busy with my checkup.” I swallowed as I looked between the two. “Tell me what?” “It doesn’t matter right now. For now, I want to examine you. Besides the confusion, how are you?” I didn’t like the vibe I was getting from her, but I answered her question. “Like I’ve been hit, been run over a few dozen times. My body aches everywhere, and I’m really thirsty.” Ryder leaped off the bed, running, and shouted he’ll get me some water. I blinked again. He was acting odd. “Was I that bad or is he just being weirder than usual?”

The only good thing is that he is able to keep his breakfast down. Ugh… Why is this happening now? Wyatt has never had this happen before. He can’t be sick. Werewolves don’t get sick. Well, he shouldn’t say that they don’t get sick. Instead, he should say that they don’t get sick that often. He leans his head back against my chair and takes a deep breath, as he wishes for it to go away.

“His vitals are clean. Let’s move to the other kid—Ryder, right?” I looked over. Ryder sat opposite me, his jaw clenched, one hand balled into a fist, the other bleeding sluggishly from a long, shallow gash across his palm. A paramedic was already cleaning it, dabbing iodine on the wound with careful movements. “Looks like you caught it on something sharp,” the medic told him. “How did it happen?” Ryder looked over at me. “Some friends and I broke a window in. A shard pierced through me when I tried to place my jacket across the sill.”

Just to make sure. I really hope I'm not sick anymore cause I can't take another disgusting medicine down my throat without wanting to puke it out. We waited patiently for the result when we did. I was off the hook. Goodbye icky, disgusting medicines, and hello junk food. The hospital was crowded today so it was hard to walk straight. Ryder has no problem though. It was probably because he was used to it since he is the captain of the football team. I began to panic when the distance grew between us. I didn't even realize I was calling his name. "Jackson! Wait for me! Jackson?"

He just stood there, staring at us as we walked away. — When Ryker closed the door, I was suddenly nervous. He still wouldn't let go of my hand, which made me so nervous I thought I would have a heart attack. I let out some air. Later, he turned to me, pulled me to the couch, and sat me there. "How is Milky doing? Is Milky sick that you're not with him?" I don't know. Ryker's soft voice sounded as if he was distraught. "Oh, he has stomach cramps, and the vet said I should leave him at the clinic for now so they can take care of him."

I gently lift him in my arms anger filling me. "What is happening?",I keep my voice soft. "This pup has whip marks",is said. I freeze up not thinking I heard right. "Derek, my brother holds another pup, this one has a stab wound",Ryder growls. "Warriors take all pups to the hospital, my men lift the pups gently and the pups start sobbing, I need some of you to track and see if we can find parents ",I walk to the hospital the little boy in my arms and he hasn't stopped crying.

The bond pulsed painfully against my chest, my knees buckling as white light sparked at the edges of my vision. “Kiara!” Ryder yelled from across the room. He caught me just before I hit the ground. His scent enveloped me; woodsmoke, iron, the faint trace of blood he could never quite wash away from. “I am fine,” I whispered, even as the world tilted sideways. “Just.. just a little tired.” “Do not lie to me, Kiara,” His voice cracked. “You are burning up. Heck, your skin is turning blue.”
