Amber was all packed up and ready to go, Briana had already left for school and Hunter was with at the daycare with Brandy. I kissed Amber goodbye and headed to my office when I got the first mindlink. Five of our border patrols have mysteriously gotten ill. Werewolves barely were sick due to our healing abilities, but once in a while it still happened one of the wolves got sick. But not five at the same time. I headed out to the area where they worked at while I mindlinked the doctor to tell me what had happened. “It’s almost like they have food poisoning, they all keep throwing up violently.” The Doctor said.

His hand is bleeding. " This isn't happening. You can't harm here without crossing me, Patrick. You are wasting all your time, grieving for a girl who doesn't care about anyone and seeking for purposeless revenge." Ryder silently said as anger flashed in Patrick's eyes. "You do know I could just get into your case files and look it up, right?" "You do know, I could still arrest you." "But you won't." He lets out a soft laugh. "No," He agrees. "No, I won't." After a long time of silence, Ryder finally blows out a long sigh and shakes his head. "I honestly don't have a damn clue what to do next," He says. "Or where to go for that matter." He looks at me, his gaze going to my shoulder. "And we should probably have someone with a medical degree look over that."

And then I get off the table and rush out the door. Still feeling weak, I am careful not to fall but see billowing smoke in the distance and then I watch as Alpha Eric emerges with Ryder on his shoulder and several of the others behind him walking and limping. Not paying attention anymore, I run to him and ask, “Is it done?” He nods before saying, “Yes, but we have lost too many.” Taking Ryder to the clinic, he deposits him on a bed and then the doctor starts working on him right away. I ask, “Will Ryder die?”

Liam let out a low moan of grief. Tess stared, her hands still on Ryder’s cold, silent chest. Had she killed him? Had the ancient power judged the reckless, half-traitorous wolf unworthy and snuffed him out? Then, a cough. A ragged, real cough. Ryder’s chest rose. Fell. Rose again, steadily. The terrifying heat was gone from his skin. The greenish-black tinge around his wounds was receding, fading to an angry but clean red. The fever had broken.

Besides, I don’t think I will be able to concentrate there knowing that you’re till not totally, okay.” “Didn’t you hear me when I say that things are going to get worse, Polly. It is certain. I can feel it. This is not just an ordinary bite or wound. The dog that bit me has rabies. It is not good for you to stay with me. I’m dying.” “No, no, no, Saucy. Sarah's pov The drive back to the clubhouse felt like it took forever even though we were moving fast. Ryder lay in the back seat with his head in my lap while Jax drove and Cain coordinated with the pack to make sure the doctor would be ready when we arrived. I kept my hand pressed over Ryder's wound even though it had mostly closed. The silver poisoning was still in his system and his skin felt too hot under my fingers. Fever meant infection and infection could kill a werewolf just as easily as a bullet if left untreated.

Trey was convulsing and twisting on the tattered leather of Ryan’s truck. “Didn’t you say that Werewolves heal when injured or something?”, She asked, panic written boldly in her eye.She wasn’t particularly looking forward to seeing another person die in front of her. Ryan was shaken by the whole thing too, the self assured smile and grin, the confident and composed carriage were all gone. In it’s place was an uncertain look that left a very bad taste in Hailey’s mouth. “He’s not healing”,Ryan said flatly. “I think we should get him to a hospital, they’ll be able to help”.

Raphael said as he struggled to adjust the strain on his injury. “Says the one who's not in the right condition to walk again, huh?” Ryder replied in sarcasm while frantically trying to get off his cuffs. “Just you wait and see…until I'm fully recovered, then I'll deal with you!!” Raphael threatened furiously with heavy breaths. “You’re just another good fella, and I don't care less about you,” Ryder replied nonchalantly. Surprisingly, in the middle of their misunderstanding, the blowing sound of a siren could be heard from a distance.

Jax’s eyes widen when he sees Ryder, and he immediately steps in front of him, blocking his path to the others. "Whoa, Cap, where you been?" Jax asks, his voice high and nervous. He keeps looking over his shoulder at the group gathered near the center of the field. "Maybe you should... uh... go check your phone or something?" Ryder frowns, pushing past him. "Move, Jax. I’m late enough as it is." "No, seriously, dude," Jax insists, grabbing at Ryder’s arm, but Ryder shakes him off. The confusion is back, gnawing at his gut. Why is everyone acting so weird?
