Later, as the gathering dispersed and the moon began its slow descent, I stood alone at the edge of the clearing, watching the realms breathe easier beneath the stars.
Killian joined me, silent as ever.
“You did it,” he said softly.
I shook my head. “We did.”
He smiled faintly. “The gods won’t like that.”
I smiled too, slow and knowing.
“Let them,” I murmured.
I had died once bound by fate.
Lived again under its shadow and risen, not to fulfill prophecy, but to break it.
I looked up at the moon, light cool against my skin.
“I was reborn to defy fate,” I whispered to the night. “And this time… I choose my ending.”
