The affection in his eyes deepened. He clicked his tongue and retorted, "That was a pickup line!" "A funny pickup line is a joke in itself." She was halfway through teasing him when her eyes wavered in shock. Her silver locket dangled and swayed gently in front of her.

Leaning down, lips grazing my ear as he whispers, “You’re my north star always leading me home and I’m your moon giving you light in the darkness. I know you better than anyone else.” His words stumble my feet. I’m not his star. And he’s not my moon. What does that even mean? Is it some cheesy pick up line that’s worked on other girls? Is it a pick up line that he’s been dying to try out, but needed the right girl to make it work? Well I’m not that girl.

I leaned in even closer than he had, stopping when my lips were only a breath from his, and breathed, “Nope.”
