For a brief second, I let myself forget why I was here. Then I took one step forward and I slipped, and then I collided with solid, unyielding muscle. I froze. A strong arm reached around my waist to steady me, and I froze. Slowly, painfully, my gaze lifted. Chase Hunter stood in front of me, shirtless, water trailing down his chest and clinging to his skin like it belonged there. His dark hair was damp, pushed back carelessly, droplets sliding from his jaw to his collarbone. His eyes met mine and his expression darkened instantly. The faint curve of his mouth disappeared, replaced by a look of pure revulsion, hatredl flaring in his frosty grey eyes like a sudden storm.

The runes ignited, one by one, in violet fire. The air thickened. Wind howled. The soil trembled beneath their feet. And then—the altar cracked open. A blinding surge of light shot upward, tearing through the mist. The ground split, and a small obsidian chest rose from within, glowing faintly red. Inside lay a single black-bound book wrapped in silver chains—the Book of the Damned. Kael stepped forward slowly. “After all this time…” He reached toward it— —and the forest screamed. A flare of silver light cut through the trees as figures emerged from the mist—The Order. Dozens of cloaked hunters, blades drawn, crossbows gleaming with runes.

“What hunts us is no ordinary shadow. It is one of the corrupt Primals—the Master of Evil himself. We thought we ended him once. We were wrong.” A collective inhale swept the room. Chelsea whispered, “corrupt Primal?” Grammy nodded. “Before gods and guardians, before packs and clans, there were the Primals—forces of the first world, unshaped and dangerous. When balance was set in place, many were bound or destroyed. But this one… he endured, waiting for the world to soften.” Her gaze drifted to the sleeping twins. “And now he knows.
