We walked beyond the Duomo, sunlight spilling down upon it is marble outside, the road artists painting photos, and the scent of latest baked bread in small bakeries.
In Venice, we hopped on a gondola, and the men were huge-eyed. Elias squealed with satisfaction, clapping his fingers, as the water splashed against the boat, while Gabriel leaned against Alessandro, entranced by means of the gondolier's deep track as he rowed. Alessandro, sitting tall, with one arm around Gabriel and the other arm steady with Elias, healthy each bit the person of Venice, a city of canals and bridges
And then, Rome.
