His muscles flexed under his tight shirt and his jaw tightened. "Do you really believe that the only reason I keep you here is because of your parents? With that he turned his back on me and stalked out of the basement.

In a discreet corner near the trees at the edge of campus, Alex was surrounded by the members of his pack, with the leader standing in front of him, staring at him with a mix of frustration and anger. "Hey, pretty lady." A male voice said, causing me to stare at the person who owns the voice. It's Christmas night, and the only thing that does happen during Christmas night around this area is for young single souls to match themselves up with any other single soul they find across the street. Well! I guess this is what I'm going to do. "Hi," Cornelia replied while trying not to behave annoyingly. "Hey. I'm Kenny Salvador. The guy who can give you a great time." The guy said, before disgustingly winking at me.

It was their special place. Lauren raced past the Imperial drive-in on the outskirts of town. They were showing a double feature—The Goonies and Cocoon. The wide lot was littered with rubbish from the night before—empty popcorn cups, candy wrappers, cigarette butts. Sometimes Lauren helped Mr. Harper, the owner, clean up the lot in exchange for $10 and a free ticket for her and Miranda to that night’s show, but she’d already seen The Goonies twice and Miranda said Cocoon was about old people so they never stayed for the second feature.

It is quite dangerous for young girls like them to commute late at night. Her eyes made a quick scan of the cafe. The small cafe only had four tables that accommodated four people each. Most of her dine-in clients were students from the nearby university. They are mostly groups of friends who wanted to hang out, or young couples who were dating. It did not take her long to see that there were two tables that were still occupied. A group of university girls occupied the first table. The girls would from time to time giggle as they stone sneaky glance to the man sitting alone on the other table.

The muffled, heavy thud of the club music behind the metal doors, the groans of the four men bleeding out on the wet pavement, the quiet drip of rain falling off the brick walls—it all died away. The entire world shrank down to just the two of them standing under the flickering yellow streetlight. ​They simply stared at each other for a full, agonizing minute. Neither of them moved. Neither of them dared to breathe.
