The disconcerting sound grated on her already frazzled nerves. Mercedes knocked on the door, not once, but three times. Still no one answered. As they entered, the doors softly shut behind him with a quiet, definitive thump. The subtle fragrance of cedar, firewood, and something deeper, possibly gunpowder, lingered in the air like a reminder.

The door glowed red as a deep rumble shook the chamber. With a groan that sounded like bones cracking— The door began to open.

My concern for his well-being grew with each failed attempt. The large, solid bronze door loomed before us, its black accents a sleek and imposing touch. We followed proper protocol, knocking first to announce our presence. I held the door knob and twisted it slowly as I admired the beautiful door. The door was heavy and thick, probably six to seven inches but inspite it's thickness, it was incredibly easy to open. As the large doors opened, chattering of several human beings became audible and it became obvious to me that the door was noise proof. Immediately I stepped out, the whole chattering stopped and everywhere became awkwardly silent. By my right and left were long curly stairs which led downstairs.
