Even from this distance, they could see the marble palaces rising up the mountainside, their windows beginning to glow with warm light as gods and mortals alike prepared for the evening. Lysander glanced over at her, his dark eyes catching the last golden light of twilight as it reflected off the gate ahead. "Most people who visit this garden come seeking inspiration from the gods themselves – they want to hear Apollo's music, learn from Athena's wisdom, find joy in Dionysus's wine. They look upward for guidance and beauty, searching the heavens for signs and wonders." He paused, looking at her with a smile that seemed to come from deep within his heart.

"Before he lets that dark side of him make decisions." I decided that I was not interested in listening to them talk about my mate. So, I excused myself and began to walk around. The garden was huge and I wondered if the Queen took care of it on her own. But, that was impossible. I'm sure she had numerous workers to do that. I wandered around for a while until I was out of the garden. I didn't know my way back so, I just kept walking. I heard grunts and shuffling, and I froze. I listened carefully and I was sure that a fight was going on.

The palace garden was a masterpiece. King Aldric had designed it himself, a circular wonder of concentric rings, each row bursting with flowers of a different color; crimson roses, white lilies, purple violets, golden marigolds. They spiraled inward toward a grand fountain at the center, where a marble statue of the Luna, Queen Selene, stood draped in flowing stone robes, her face lifted toward the sky. It was said the King had commissioned it in the first year of their marriage, obsessed with capturing her beauty. The garden was his gift to her. And his warning to everyone else: She is mine.

Together, Eisa and I make our way through the palace and find my parents in the courtyard. It’s one of the most beautiful spots in the palace. Exotic trees stand tall and proud against the structure of the palace walls, while vibrant green vines weave their way around every piece of stone. Fountains of dancing water are scattered throughout the courtyard separated by gardens of birds of paradise, burgundy gladiolus, blue hyacinth, pink crocus and… fuck, dandelions. Shit on a brick! Inside the queen's room, there is a big open area with white walls covered in a silk flower print. There are paintings on the walls, and the floor is covered in plush, purple carpeting. A big, round table is surrounded by cushions, and in one corner, there are several large vases of flowers. On the table, there is a plate of chocolate cake. The queen's garden outside has some plants and flowers.

Adriana's Point of View We all went outside into the Queen's private courtyard, off the main throne room. No one was allowed in the enclosed space without the Queen's permission, so it was safe to say that we wouldn't be disturbed. The vast courtyard was a breathtaking oasis of beauty. It was enclosed by intricately woven vines of silver and gold, forming a natural barrier that shimmered with an otherworldly glow. Flowers of every conceivable colour bloomed in harmony, their petals radiating a gentle, ethereal light.

David nodded and then walked out after him. It didn't take long before Knox found the location where the Queen mother was. He walked through the narrow road that led to the garden ignoring the lake around. "Where's she?" He asked as he approached the maid who was watering the plants. "She's at the garden wheels my lord," She hurriedly bowed her head in respect. Knox nodded then walked by her without saying a word, only a look of indifference was on his face.

Theron stared at her, weighing her words. The hum faded… but something else replaced it. A distant noise carried through the stone corridors, guards shouting, a woman’s gasp, a surge of frantic footsteps. Renna stiffened. “What now?” Theron opened the door, and a messenger nearly collided with him, breathless and pale. “Elder Theron, Renna, the Queen, she, ” “Spit it out,” Renna snapped. “She’s outside!” the guard gasped. “The Queen is in the garden, and she’s not alone.”

“Even if there’s some trouble going on, I believe I can find a few minutes to enjoy the garden. After all, isn’t that one of the perks of being a Queen? To have a little bit of freedom every now and then?” The other two guards let out a gentle laugh, but they still stood firm in their decision. The friendly one, who had a smile that was both warm and welcoming, added, “You understand how things are, my Queen. We have a duty to protect you and keep you safe. We can maintain some space between us, but we will be nearby to make sure you are safe and secure.” I let out a deep breath, as I looked at the door that opened up to the beautiful flowers and greenery outside.
