(Paul’s POV) There’s a certain kind of quiet that only exists in places made for people like us. It’s not the silence of being empty, or the stillness of not being there. It’s something more planned, made, organized, and carefully kept up. The kind of quiet where conversations happen with careful words, where everything said has meaning, and nothing is ever said without a reason. That’s what tonight feels like. The room is lit softly, with lamps casting a gentle glow that shines off smooth glass and dark wood. Everything is set up to look relaxed, but nothing here is by accident. It bleeds through wood, stone, and silence, if you know how to listen. And I did. I leaned against the railing, staring down the length of the hall where my men stood at attention. Not Knights. Not soldiers. Dogs. But dogs I had trained well enough to bare their teeth when commanded. “They’re quiet,” one of them muttered, almost uncertain. I smiled, smoke slipping past my teeth. “That’s the loudest sound in the world. Quiet. It means they’re bleeding inside.” The man shifted uncomfortably, like he wasn’t sure if I meant it as praise or warning. I didn’t clarify.

The park was never, anyway, quiet. Late afternoon, even, it buzzed with its own murmurs of the mothers to the kids, pigeons cooing, sitting on lookout for crumb scraps of bread, and a fountain splashing where coins are spat on the sidewalk. To Leya, though, who sat on the lap of a maple tree, the world's quietest place. Her scarf had been blown from its path by the gust, her hair flowing on her head. She didn't care. Flesh warmed, and no Blackwood telling her to stand, sit, or breathe differently.

His hand found mine, fingers intertwining as if they had always belonged there. Outside, the sky turned from gold to pale blue. The light caught on his skin, softening the edges of everything. “I used to think love was supposed to be loud,” I said after a while. “Something that shook your whole world, something that must drag attention be felt in all ways loudly.i felt it's not something that's supposed to be quiet.i mean when two people talk about love it should be all attention dragged.” He smiled faintly. “And now?” “Now I think it’s this. Quiet. Steady. Like breathing.”

Why is silence so noisy? On Earth, it's never this way. Silence is peaceful. Now, it's filled with noise, accompanied with a wave of intense fear. Like a huge monster is right in front of me, waiting to tear me apart with extremely sharp cuspids. My mind is at war with my spirit; my mind is telling me to move, run, but my spirit is pinning me to a spot. I am torn between running and standing still. Then, I feel a hand against my shoulder. It's surprising that a grip this powerful can be so subtle. How's this possible?

The silence came like a held breath, silver noticed it when she woke. She lay still beneath the furs, eyes open, waiting for the familiar brush of sound along the edges of her thoughts. The whispers had become a constant companion over the past weeks, unwelcome but predictable. They curled through her mind at odd hours, pressed into her insecurities, named her fractures with cruel intimacy. This morning, there was nothing, no murmur or presence. Her chest tightened. She sat up slowly, pressing two fingers to her temple as if she could coax the sound back. The quiet stretched, deep and unnatural, like a forest emptied of birds, it was too still.

She's just quiet. Ah right... My presence might be uncomfortable for her so I should go. ~*~ While walking back, I heard faint steps behind me. Looking sideways, I can see her shadow. She's still quiet. Silence, And somehow, I can't bring myself to broke it. And this defeaning silence... .......one thing keeps pounding on my mind. Am I crazy? Or Am I sick? It's so loud that I want to take it out and make ot stop beating.

A Month Later The sound of silence. It is my favorite. And within a dark room? Immaculate. A dark and silent room is my preferred environment. It is all I must picture to reach a certain level of concentration. If I can image an environment like that and block everything else out… I am sure there is nothing I cannot accomplish.

The color drained from their faces in an instant. "He's just someone our company phased out! Mr. Smart, could there be some kind of misunderstanding?" Donald asked shamelessly, pointing at me. "Idiot." Victor couldn't be bothered with them anymore and turned to me instead. "Mr. Conner, the bidding is about to begin. Please return to your seat." "Alright." I smiled and straightened my suit cuffs. "Whether I'm really a consultant will be clear once the conference starts." After leaving them with that, I turned and walked away.

Just a steady, dull throb—like silence pressing on bone. The war room had emptied, the soft hum of computers the only reminder that life still pulsed in the building. And yet, I sat there alone, staring at nothing, my thoughts louder than any chaos the world could offer.
