“Maybe,” he said, dragging out the world. “Or maybe I would’ve had to come carry you up here, and we’d both be in trouble.”
“What kind of trouble?” I asked. The sun was starting to set, turning the colors around us more vibrant.
“A rogue wolf pack, witches, hurricanes…” he said, using his fingers to count them off.
“Hurricanes?” I repeated incredulously. “The big bad wolf is afraid of some wind?”
He scrunched his face in mock offense. I couldn’t help but laugh.
