Alora's Windsong
He turned over, restless, staring at the crack beneath the cell door.
A soft shhht broke the silence.
A folded scrap of paper slid under the door.
Jake frowned, crawling forward. He picked it up, hands trembling. There was no writing on the outside — just a faint, greasy smudge that smelled like smoke and pine resin.
He unfolded it.
Inside, written in ink that shimmered faintly red, were five words:
“The mountain witch has chosen her.”
Jake’s pulse quickened. Beneath the words, a single black feather was pressed into the fold, small, sharp, unmistakably from a raven.
