The Ravens were treated to yet another security station close to the end of the walkway, perhaps 20 meters away from the entrance to the building. And the Royal Guards stationed here were a little bit different from the regular ones. Their uniforms were a deep, dark burgundy. It was so dark that it was almost purplish-black. And there were no other highlights on their uniforms, silver or not. At the station, the Ravens went through yet another round of careful vetting, And they also witnessed another changing of their guard. The Matriarch’s Royal Guard handed over the Ravens to these shadowy Royal Guards, then went back the way they came.

For the next few days, I couldn’t stop thinking about Mr. Reed and Clara. I’d seen her twice, but each time she acted like she had no memory of our interactions. Mr. Reed was far too calm about her bizarre behavior—as if he expected it. Worst of all, he kept paying security guards to help him, but never explained what was really going on. Even now, Raven could feel the power each one radiated, faint echoes of divinity hidden beneath the guise of their mortal forms. This was the first time they would fight openly alongside her, revealing glimpses of their true selves, and she knew it would tip the scales.

I whimper, running to him as he shakes his head and points to Raven, as the vampires all begin clutching their heads and screaming. “Get to your sister, she’s going to lose herself and kill us all,” Ryder links to me, making me shake my head while getting up running towards her, as she stands holding Orin’s heart with him lying dead at her feet. Embry is on his knees wailing as he sits between Osric and Jonathan, while Vaari stands in front of Raven trying to get her attention. “Raven, you have to stop! You need to focus on my voice! If you keep going you will lose yourself!” Vaari screams at her making her drop the heart as she growls at him, completely locked in like a feral beast.

I increased my steps, almost breaking into a run as I pushed the dungeon gates open and the first scent that hit my nose was blood. It was so thick in the air that I had to scrunch my nose at the smell. I climbed down the steps as I took a turn to where the guards usually stay and I couldn't help but stop in my tracks at the sight in front of me. Raven stood at the center of six dead guards breathing hard as she looked at the dead bodies on the floor. She was drenched in blood with her hands clenched at her sides. She hasn't noticed me. For a moment I couldn't move. I just stood there wondering what the fuck happened and why she killed them.

Jacob POV The panic that hit me when I stretched my arm across the bed and realized that Raven was gone was the worst feeling that I have ever experienced. And it only spiked when I saw that she wasn’t in the bathroom either. I grabbed the jogging pants off the floor, almost ripping holes in them as my claws extended from Coal, starting to push forward. His panic only added to mine.
