Raven POV I’m on edge. It’s been a week, and still no sign of hunters. Hades has done everything to reassure me, but I’m less than comforted. All I can hear is my mother’s voice inside my head. They’re coming, Raven. They’re coming for you. You have to be prepared. You need to save your pack. No matter what, don’t let down your guard or the people you love, the people who matter most will die, right in front of your eyes.

Scarlett / Raven’s POV I stepped back into the healer’s library and closed the door behind me with a soft click. My fingers fumbled with the key before the lock finally turned. The soft scrape of metal sliding into place eased some of the tension knotted inside me. No one was going to walk in and find me surrounded by books I was never meant to touch. Especially not Ms. Darkmoon. The thought of her sharp eyes landing on me here made my stomach turn. I couldn't survive another confrontation tonight.

Raven The scouts sat in a circle around me as I waited for Ethan to return. They watched me like statues, still and never blinking. I feared they’d attack me as soon as I dropped my guard. I refused to let them see that fear, though. I stood with my head held high, proud but not arrogant, and kept my eyes straight ahead. I forced myself to keep my breaths even and my hands soft at my side. I was still the daughter of an Alpha, after all. And their ruler was my mate. I would not let their soft growls deter me from helping my mother and my unborn child.

“Especially now that we have learned a Nymph is with them. Our magic won’t pick them out.” So they have no idea that we are already here. Good. We all look at each other, thinking the same thing. Raphael pushes the council chamber doors open, and the room reacts the moment we cross the threshold. Guards scramble to their feet, hands going for weapons, but Dagar is already calling his ravens. They burst through the windows into the chamber in a violent rush, wings beating as they spiral upward, forming a chaotic vortex above the room. It throws the guards off balance.

What could it hurt, after all? "I am a Reaver," I purred, my voice low and smooth. Roxy's eyes widened, a flicker of surprise dancing across her face. I was certain she had stumbled upon the chapters detailing my kind in the book she'd been reading. Three entire chapters were devoted to Reavers, and they were nestled near the beginning of the book. Given that she was now halfway through, I assumed she had already devoured those particular pages.

For a werewolf a life like that… it was fucking awful… I don’t know how much time passed, but it wasn’t that long before I saw Raven’s dark and light grey wolf come running, her two unique coloured eyes glowing as she dropped a bundle of clothes next to me and nuzzled my head.
