She opened the first book then she proceeds to pronounce the letters one by one. She patiently repeat each sound until I get it. She praise me and gives me rewards whenever I got the sound of the letter she points at right. "I promise on my triple chocolate fudge cookies. You will relearn how to read in no time." I nodded at mommy Ella eagerly. The library door opened, Jamison and Parker entered running. "We are home mother!" Jamison shouts. Parker and Jamison, both hug and kiss our cheeks in greeting. "Watcha doing?" Jamison plop beside me.

I also typed my contact number in case my social media account can’t be reached. “Here,” I said, handing the phone to him. “You know the letters, right? You can see the punctuation marks here. Just click that. Then this long one on the bottom is the ‘space’. Once you’re done composing the message, just click this arrow. I unfold the letter with trembling fingers. The paper is slightly worn, the edges soft like it’s been handled too many times before it got to me. It's so obvious that Alessandro didn't handle it well when he read it. I don't even know why he would read it when it was clearly addressed to me. My heart is thudding in my chest—fast, heavy, uneven. I don’t know what I expect this letter to say. I don’t even know if I want to know.

Ignoring the filth, he reached into the pile of ash, still warm with residual magic, and dug frantically. His claws were stained black with charcoal, his nail beds filled with soot. Finally, he dug out a corner of a fragment that hadn't completely burned. It was the corner of a yellowed parchment. It showed only half of his young profile—back when he had just presented as an Alpha. His eyes were clear, looking at someone outside the frame. There was also half a page of a charred vow. The handwriting was blurred by fire, but the last sentence was faintly legible:

The big and bolded letter word that Emie read unto the cover page of the seemingly ordinary letter, but a tangible mysterious one inside, wherein the sender itself is nothing, but a blank name that ringing a warning, yet knocking her sub-conscious mind with the interest to the extreme. She opens it as she undoes the folds and whispers. “God’s gate. Alchemy.”

Enzo adds handing the letter to me. I take the letter from Enzo, wondering why the darn council doesn't ever call or send a message over the phone or via mail. They have been known for using letters, which I find quite annoying even the Alpha King fooled me by also using letters as well. I break the seal and unfold the parchment, my eyes scanning the words on the page. Amelia stands beside me, her hand intertwined with mine, as she waits patiently for me to read through. "You said this was from the council?" I ask Enzo going through the letter again.

"Anyway, thinking about it clearly, I can understand why you are crying. Don't worry Rachel dear, you will be able to set your father free soon. The wait will be worth it." "Yea, I'm just in shock. It feels unreal that we've made so much progress in such a short time" Rachel dabbed her wet cheeks with her hand gently "So, about that, what are the four letters?" "THEJ. That's it." Sophia remarked and sneezed "Ugh! Excuse me. The words don't make sense yet because it's four letters, we have five more to go"

Brit took a deep breath and then hesitantly placed her fingers on the pointer as well. She did not know whether she was imagining it, but the wooden triangle seemed to feel warm under her fingertips. She hoped the damn thing would stay right where it was. Instead, it began to slide slowly across the board a few inches before stopping. "I," Lexi said, reading out the letter where the pointer had stopped. The pointer moved again. Lexi continued to call out the letters. "A...M." She hesitated a moment, then read. "I am..."

I could hear his stupid voice as I read the letter: 7am. Meet me up front…. And do not be late, princess.

The code was clear: H-U-L-L--S-P-L-I-T-T-I-N-G. C-O-L-E--D-O-W-N. L-E-O--N-O-T--B-R-E-A-T-H-I-N-G. T-H-E--I-R-O-N--K-I-N-G--I-S--A-T--T-H-E--D-O-O-R.
