"What does your new friend look like, Heidi?" Heidi proudly lifted her drawing. It was a crude, childish sketch of a very tall figure standing between two giant green trees. The figure was colored completely in dark gray and black crayons, but the most unsettling part was the face. Heidi had used a bright yellow crayon to draw two massive, perfectly round circles for the eyes.

Oh well. The boy suddenly twitched, remembering something. He looked around frantically for what was missing and breathed a sigh of relief when he spotted his bag on the bed. The folder with the drawings was in place. Edgar opened it and looked at the sheet with a sketch of a beautiful girl with two braids and smiled. The imagination vividly painted fiery red hair, silky skin and bright green eyes. He remembered her soft laugh and soft sweet lips. Very pleasant. Perhaps Darius is still somewhat right. Maybe he should think about a second date? For some reason, Edgar was sure that this time he would not be refused.

It's clear who is who at that point. Between the two tall figures, is a smaller stick figure. “Let me guess, that is you.” I say to her as I point to it.

The specific alive quality of someone who has no idea they are being caught in a moment that will matter to them. I draw her for an hour. When I finish, I look at the drawing. Hearing her daughter's sugary voice, Michelle couldn't help but laugh. Michelle examined the drawings closely. Lizzy's skills were indeed advanced for her age, with vibrant colors and heartwarming scenes. Both drawings depicted "family", one a "larger family" and the other a "nuclear family". Lizzy's keen observation was evident in her detailed depictions: her baby sister with a pacifier, her mom with waist-length hair, her dad in a suit and tie, and herself with big, round eyes. In the other drawing, she'd used lighter shades for the grandparents' hair. While Michelle understood what Lizzy had drawn, she still playfully asked, "Wow, Lizzy, these are amazing! "Becca," I looked up from my notes and found Hannah standing near my desk with a piece of paper in her hand. "Yes, Hannah," I whispered as the entire classroom was quiet and smiled down at her. "That's my dad, then there is me in the middle and," she pointed to the woman, "that's you." she grinned widely and my heart swell with happiness.
