I walked completely into the room. "We have a problem." I said abruptly. Their movements haulted and their eyes found mine. "What's the problem?" One asked. The other, by the books noticed the book I held in my hand, and immediately frowned. She stepped closer in my direction. "What is that?" She questioned. I lifted the book up in my hand so that they both could see it clearly. "This is an old spell book, one that stays in the library." They stayed silent. "Something in it called out to me. I looked through it and found a spell missing. I felt that it may have been used today."

“Hey… about what you saw earlier.” She jumped, clutching the book to her chest. “I—I didn’t see anything. I swear. I won’t tell anyone.” I smiled softly and stepped even closer, backing her gently against the shelves. “Relax. Professor Harlan and I… we have an understanding. But I saw how you looked at us. You didn’t run away because you were scared. You ran because it turned you on, didn’t it?” Her cheeks burned brighter. She shook her head quickly. “No… that’s not… I’m not—”

I said, and Rick nodded as he walked to the center of the room and dropped into a chair. My fingers glide along the books as I read their titles. I pull one out, glance at the first few pages, and then slip it back into its place before continuing. “Hmmm,” I hummed as I squatted to see the books at the bottom. My fingers glide along the books, and my heart stops when I read one of the titles, “How to Reject a Mate and the Consequences that Follow.” Slowly, I pulled the book from its slot and flipped through a few pages.

I run my hand over it before propping it open. 'How to refine your magic: A Complete Guide'. "Hmmm…" I purse my lips together. Could this actually be the answer to all of my prayers? Gods, I hoped so. Closing the book, I flip the book over. Weirdly enough, there's no barcode on the back of it, nor on the inside cover when I flip it open again. Had someone left this here on accident? I tuck it close to my chest. Well, finder's keepers, right?

“You have no idea what kind of day I've had. I just want to rest, Hazel.” “I don’t care,” I said, surprising even myself with how steady my voice sounded. “I want answers and I'm getting it from you now.” “Hazel…” “Who is R?” I tapped the notepad repeatedly, the sound that echoed was loud. So loud in a room very quiet at 9 in the night. “I found some cryptic word on this book a week ago. Move. R. secured. Tell me what it means. Tell me who R is and why do I feel like I know who that person is.”

It had no label, just creepy old intricate engravings. She flipped open a page randomly and read. "End is bleak and the rise close, The crimson Rukh and the guardian of the flame, One who bleeds blue holds the fate of those, Beware, every cheat has a price. Curse is on the name. Huh!"
