I paused, so my words would settle before I continued. “As expected, the room was messy, actually, dusty like it had been abandoned for years. You have been living here for two days, so your room should not be that messy. More so, messier than the living room, which was frequented the most.” “The third reason is the book, the cranky old book on the shelf, the way you came in. The scent of old paper filled the room. For the first time since arriving, I was genuinely impressed by something other than the overused space. “Oh my goodness.” I gasped. Carissa smiled. “Okay?” “This room wins,” I added as I spun around, taking in everything. “Exactly.” She looked ridiculously pleased by that, I wandered further inside, eyes scanning every shelf. Some books looked older than countries.
