He stood there, big, as if he had been waiting for me to climb onto his back.
I climbed onto his back in silence. My hands gripped the thick fur on his shoulders, holding on tightly.
The moment I settled, he started running. His movements were fast and smooth. Trees and shadows passed us quickly, blending into the dark.
As he ran, I kept my eyes lowered. I stared at his fur, my fingers clenched around it as if letting go would make everything fall apart.
The wind rushed against my face, brushing my hair back. It felt the cold, but also calming in a strange way.
