“The rice is simple, everyone likes rice. Is something wrong with the food? Or… with you?”
I hesitated. The ginger tea smelled soothing, but my stomach still fluttered uneasily from the flight and the secret I’d been carrying for days. I met her gaze. “Do you have children?”
Sakura shook her head, a small, wistful smile touching her lips. “Not yet. We’ve only been married six months. We’re trying, though.” She pressed a hand briefly to her own flat stomach, then looked back at me. “Why do you ask?”
