Rolling over, I cringe with pain when I look at my abraided ankle, knees and hands. Swallowing hard, I look at the horrific sight before me. Spider-like creatures are crawling across the ceiling and surrounding me. It’s a horrific sight to see. The creatures look like large spiders, with spines on their backs, long taloned claws, and razor-sharp teeth. Their eyes are red, and saliva falls from their chelicerae as they gaze hungrily back at me. None dare to approach me. Instead, they pace around me, which is super confusing.

Elias said, looking back at the monster, which had an arm stretched out. “Damn, damn, damn, we have to do something! Anything! I don't think our powers are working here! We're running at the typical human speed!” Scarlet said, as they began to climb upwards. It was harder than skidding downwards. Her heart was pounding, seeming to be seeking to find a way out of her chest. It felt like she could feel death knocking, minutes away. She didn't know what the ants could do, but she didn't want to know either.

Sapphire sniggered. "Small!? The thing was a freaking TARANTULA! And you guys promised you wouldn't say anything!" Fortune gritted her teeth. "You should've seen her crying for help." Danté snickered to Scarlett. Scarlett started to chuckle lightly. She hid her smile away before the pixie-haired, rebel-looking teen would catch it. But that didn't work. "Hey, wipe that smile off your face, wench, or you're dead! It's not funny!" Fortune fumed.

I glanced at a few of the books, some fantasy novels and a small sketch pad. I opened the sketch pad and looked through it, she was good. Really good. The scenes were mostly outdoors. Forests, waterfalls, mountains. All done with such grace and precision. Each more lovely and realistic than the last. I noticed at the bottom there was a J written as beautifully as the drawings themselves. I got to the last page and there was a drawing of a moon. Bright and beautiful in the sky but there was something else to it. The drawing felt sad. “What the hell.” I snapped as I lifted my hand and wiped a tear from my cheek.

When there were only a few pages left, the tone of my drawings changed. The objects and animals that I drew were not alone this time. I no longer drew a stormy or dark night, but a scenery with sunlight and good weather. The flower was accompanied by a dancing butterfly. The bear cub has found another little bear. The rabbit was happily nibbling on a carrot. Ah. This was the time when Layla and I started to be together. At the end of the page, I was surprised to find out an outline of a person's face. Since the sketchbook was old, the paper was slightly yellowed which affected the clarity of the drawing. I could barely see the outline.

Her eyes turned ocean blue, but she didn’t shift. Looking here and there, Scary spotted the old butler standing near a table over which was kept some water.
