Scarlet Spider Drawing Novels & Stories

This was the kind of thing that woke the city up and left it grousing in its sleep. Around dusk, a woman from the daycare brought Sophie’s little blue spade and a crayon drawing of a family, three stick figures holding hands under an enormous yellow sun. The teacher’s hands trembled as she handed it to me. Sophie had drawn me with wild hair and a lopsided smile. She had drawn Alexander with a big square body and a neat tie. The third stick figure was smaller, a happy, tilted circle with two dots for eyes, Sophie’s own self-portrait. The paper smelled faintly of paste and crayons and every ordinary thing I wanted back.

I shook my clothes with effort, but softly; trying to get whatever was crawling inside my clothes to come off without raising an alarm. And then it came off. But it landed on my arm. And when I saw the brown hairs standing on end; with four eyes looking up at me, eight legs spread out on my hand, and its body that was the size of mother's comb. I screamed again. Foolishly. But I felt only half guilty. Because it was a Spider. It was a Tarantula. I screamed louder. And shoved it away, sending it flying into the darkness, then shot my hands to my mouth again. Now cursing myself. For screaming. Twice.

Her hand stilled. "Here." She turned the book toward me. I leaned closer. The drawing on the page made something in my chest tighten. It was a wolf – but not right. The proportions were wrong. Limbs too long. Spine bent in a way that didn't look natural. Its face was caught between shapes – half-muzzle, half-human, stretched into something unnatural. And the eyes – even in ink, they looked like they glowed. "The Shadow," Mara said quietly. "Or something like him."

She spotted a drawing in the mud. She stepped back to survey the image more clearly. Her heart fell as she recognized a drawing of Sage’s estate on the Hudson river. The picture was so intricately drawn it couldn’t have been made by Sage—he was close to death when Scarlet had left him. There was no way he could have had the strength to draw this picture. Scarlet realized that someone else had been on the island. Someone else had drawn this picture, someone who knew what the estate looked like in finite detail. There was only one person who fit that description.

The spiders halted, suspended mid-movement. Scott's eyes slowly opened, his gaze locking onto mine. He stood up.His hands transformed into razor-sharp claws.Claw sliced through chitin, tearing the creatures apart.In moments, the spiders lay motionless, their bodies crumpled.Scott turned to me, his eyes burning with intensity. "Are you okay?" he asked, his voice low and husky. I nodded, then fainting secure in Scott embrace.

It wasn't as firm as before. "Maybe I can help you." I spoke in a softer tone, a tactic Klaus had used on me countless times and it always worked. "Maybe all you need is someone with a different view." Scarlett sighed and unlocked her cell phone, then handed it to me. It's a drawing of a dress in dark tones, the top is the one with the most detail for now. It's a bodice with a black background, but you can see the drawings of scales making an S from the left shoulder and outlining the body, where it looks like the dragon's tail is hiding behind. Because after I was done, I looked down. I saw Angelstar, my wolf, and a beautiful wolf has a midnight color on his tail and under his chest with a shape of a paw on his chest. I knew it was a bigger guy than her and me because they were on the mountain top watching the sky. Then something came to my mind. So I started drawing on the other pad. I was underlining the picture and coloring and shadowy the part of the picture. Once I was done. I gasped and hid my flush face because I had drawn a girl with beautiful platinum blonde hair and purple eyes, but I kept my eyes on her. Oh, my God! The drawing looks just like-

This isn't an outline, this is a full-blown drawing. “This is…” “A hobby I picked up, nothing interesting” He waves it off and my heart shreds up a little. I flip the next page and it's another drawing of me lifting a bloodied figurine high up above my head. My lips are pursed harshly and are painted a sharp shade of ruby red. My eyes are a different shade of brown, they look glazed over like I'm in some sort of bloodlust haze. There are specks of blood splattered all over my face and hands.

My hair damp from the clean up. There is nothing around me for miles on the GPS. I guess I can go to sleep now. That’s what I think until I look above me. In the trees, perfectly hidden is a massive blood red spider, staring at me with all ten beady eyes. I slowly get up from where I just lay and stand back as it lowers itself with a thick cord of webs like something graceful. I’m under no illusions. I know perfectly well what that is. I extend my claws, both real and extended by pressure. I make it dense enough to cut through one of these gigantic trees in one fell swoop.
