My head's swooning. "Awww you're my spiderman then.. I'm Mary Jane." "What are you 5?" I hissed. "Why are you always mean?" She asked in a sad tone. "Get away, Scarlette." She clung to me like a monkey and I pushed her away. "As always.. people want me to get away from them.." She said in a really really sad tone, she got up but I caught her wrist and pulled her to me. She sat beside me and she slipped her arms around my hips. My breath got hitch and I sighed. I tried to push her away but she's clinging like a koala and a tree.

Spider demanded as he tried to move away. “Christina.” Pagan said she scurried up his arm to settle under his hair on his shoulder. “She’s a purple knee tarantula and a social anxiety spider.” Shiloh smiled as she went back and took the other spider out of the box. Without asking, she took the lid off a water bottle and filled the lid. Setting it right in front of the brown and orange spider, he stuck his face in and began to drink. “He’s dehydrated and probably needs to eat.” She stroked the body, causing little hairs to come out. “He’s a Mexican red knee, and I would say, young adult.”

Just unmarked leather and the weight of secrets waiting to be discovered. I opened it carefully, mindful of pages that looked fragile enough to crumble at a touch. The first page made me gasp aloud. Ink drawings filled the yellowed paper—not the crude sketches of an amateur, but artwork of remarkable skill and disturbing beauty. A wolf, massive and powerful, its eyes rendered in such detail I could swear they were watching me from the page. And beside it, a woman in flowing robes, her hand extended toward the beast as if in offering or benediction.

A spider turned into a red heart shape that floated in mid-air before his eyes. “But he’s not as bad as you think.”

"What does your new friend look like, Heidi?" Heidi proudly lifted her drawing. It was a crude, childish sketch of a very tall figure standing between two giant green trees. The figure was colored completely in dark gray and black crayons, but the most unsettling part was the face. Heidi had used a bright yellow crayon to draw two massive, perfectly round circles for the eyes.

“Though I do like that, on occasion.” As he’d hoped, Tex just glowered harder, which made his drop-dead-sexy face nothing but hotter. Spider didn’t usually go for blonds, but he’d be more than happy to make an exception for this drawling, smoldering cowboy. He was delicious, with his orders and demands, and growls about the time passing, and standing there with those large arms crossed. All of this was, of course, just a gigantic distraction, and not at all the point. Spider sighed, then stuck his head out of the office.

She crushed her already perspiring palm delicately standing by without complaining for the brown complexion man to talk. The man got the plan drawing, took a gander at Ms scarlet and afterward at the drawing, shook his head, and mumbled. "Gee... Not terrible!" "You truly drew this?!" he inquired. "Yeah! I did!" Ms scarlet gestured her head gradually, sitting tight for what he needs to say straightaway. The brown complexion man was paralyzed for some time, then chuckled,. "It appears as though it! It appears as though it!" "Like what?" Ms scarlet asked inquisitively.

Not that I would be able to remember them even if I knew. But I was not giving up. From the looks of it, neither was Spider. He had whipped his sketchpad out and was drawing figures only he could understand from how distorted they were. A kindergarten kid’s stick figures would look like bestseller art pieces beside Spider’s doodles. “I will go to Arcron. We will search here, here, and here.” He pointed at spots on his sketchpad and I could only stare blankly. “What are we looking for, exactly?” I asked.

There, hidden behind a curtain of weeping carbon-fiber vines, was a small, dilapidated shack. "What is this?" I asked. "The only place the grid can't see," Xander said. He pulled back the vines, and I saw a wall covered in jagged, hand-drawn charcoal sketches. I gasped. The sketches weren't of buildings or machines. They were of us. There was a drawing of a man and a woman standing in a mountain of gold; a drawing of a girl with a wooden ring; a drawing of a man with orange eyes holding a woman in the rain.

Spider, seated in the passenger seat, leaned forward slightly, his eyes narrowing as he studied the dark tree line on both sides of the road. “That wasn’t here yesterday,” Spider muttered. Sarah, seated in the back, looked up from her phone. “What’s wrong?” Scorpion didn’t answer right away. His gaze swept the surroundings, too quiet, too clean. No animals. No passing cars. Even the wind seemed to have gone still. “This is wrong,” Spider said flatly, turning halfway toward Sarah. “Ma’am, we need to brace for impact.” Her stomach tightened instantly. “Impact?” Spider reached for the door handle. “I’ll step out and move it.”
