Her hand brushed across my head. When I woke up, someone was holding my hand. It was my mom. Dad had been outside with lionel. I was sure I would get in trouble. Kataya had fallen asleep on the sofa. As I stirred, my mom gripped my hand tighter. “Hiru?” My voice was raspy when I uttered a single word. “Mom?” clearing my throat, I tried again. “M-mom?” She kissed my hand, tears slid down her face. “I’m so glad you’re alright. The doctor said you were scratched by an animal. You’re lucky it wasn’t worse. Don’t you ever do that again. We could’ve lost you.”

It sounded like something huge and she scrunched up her face, a tear staining her eye lids as she raked her fingers through her hair. She was doomed! Could that be a dogman coming for her? Her knees shook and her throat felt dry instantly. "I just want to go home," Whispered Maris as she took shelter behind a bush, taking a peek from a small hole. A big hairy monster stopped, backing the bush as he sniffed the ground and howled at the moon. Other beasts howled too and Maris closed her eyes, taking her face away from the hole.

The cat sat on Freddy's grandmother's lap as it let out its vibrations. "What's the power, grandma?" Asked Freddy who couldn't wait to hear the story about the cat from his grandmother's mouth. "Grandma isn't sure what power she has. But grandma once saw her turn into a tiger while hearing the sound of a tiger in the forest two weeks ago." Freddy's grandmother explained the situation that happened to her first. "Oh .. So why didn't grandma just defend her?" Freddy started to ask, Kei looked at Freddy puzzled. 'Eh? He wasn't the one who said his grandmother was old. ' Kei whispered to himself. Freddy who looked at Kei who was staring at him was puzzled.

Daring to look down again, I see that where I had just scratched, is a gaping wound and there is a maggot crawling out of it. I hear a noise from behind me and when I turn on my heels, I watch as the same man from before stands about a foot taller than I am and is staring right into my eyes. He opens his mouth and states, “You have finally awakened. Good.”

Had I known this was what it was about, I would have never agreed to come here. "What happened to your hand?" I asked. Her mood immediately shifted as she tried to hide her arm. Now, I was curious. "I've been bored lately. You know, my daughter is busy most of the time. I decided to adopt some cats from an animal rescue centre. This morning, they decided they wouldn't be nice. One of them scratched me." She explained. "You may want to cover that up and put on a bandaid. It might get infected." I suggested. "I will, and I just left the house in a hurry." She replied nervously.

I was about to call her over to introduce her to Hailey but as I opened my mouth and turned to the girl, I noticed the panicked look on her face. Hailey All my thoughts came to an abrupt halt the moment that big cat stepped into the room and fear flowed through my veins. This might sound like and asshole thing to say, but me and the animal world don't get along. On my seventeen years of existence I'd been scratched, bitten and 'attacked' by every pet that's crossed me.
