The amusement park’s vibrant colors and cheerful noises blurred into the background as Lucas watched the fear flicker across Lily’s face. Her hands trembled, clutching the letter, and her eyes were wide with dread. Lucas’s heart clenched; he hated seeing her like this. “Lily,” he said softly, but when she didn’t respond, he stepped closer and gently took the letter from her hands.
