It makes you scared, makes you sweat and it makes your heart beat faster until you can take it no more and your body forces you to wake up. You wake up and realize it wasn't real and your mind eases. It is scary but when you wake up you no longer feel scared of it because it's all a figment of your imagination.

It was late autumn when they arrived — the trees skeletal, the air thick with a kind of oppressive stillness that seemed to hum beneath the surface of the world. Emily Carter, a graduate student in folklore and urban legends, had heard the whispers about WildWood all her life. She had grown up just a few towns over and had spent years gathering the old stories: tales of the “vanishing patients,” the “howling trees,” and the “night doctors” said to stalk the forest paths. Determined to separate fact from myth, Emily organized an expedition for her thesis, enlisting a few brave companions:

He woke up drenched in sweat, clutching his blanket as if it were a weapon. Mia avoided mirrors entirely, terrified of what she might see. The vivid images of clawed beasts and shadowy landscapes haunted her dreams, leaving her tired and irritable during the day. Ryan tried to brush it off, telling himself it was just nightmares. But deep down, he felt it too—the sense that they had faced something unimaginable and lived to tell the tale. The nightmares grew worse as time went on. No one except the man. The lights flickered. Static buzzed in the bulbs. Electricity crackled. The carriage was plunged into darkness, just a split second of impenetrable black that filled my mouth, my nose, my ears, like thick, dank water, choking me, drowning me. When the lights exploded back into life, I saw it. A sheen of silvery skin on the man's cheek, harsh white reflecting off scarred flesh. It was a brief flicker of a bad dream. A touch of a nightmare; there and then gone again so quickly that I had to blink away the haze, but I knew I'd seen it, I'd seen him .

As the stories got scarier, I noticed a few of the younger pack members huddling closer to their parents, seeking comfort and reassurance. Soon, it was my turn to share a story. Feeling the weight of the moment, I cleared my throat and began my tale. "In a small village, there was a haunted mansion. It was said that the spirit of a vengeful witch roamed the halls, seeking revenge on anyone who dared to enter her domain..." I let my imagination run wild, conjuring spine-chilling scenes and mysterious characters. The pack leaned in closer, their eyes wide with fascination, hanging onto every word I spoke. The suspenseful atmosphere made my heart race with excitement.

“You… you wouldn’t believe me if I told you.” She sounds sad as she says it, which puts me on alert. “Is there something wrong, Jules?” She remains quiet as she gazes at the covers. Brow furrowed, I lean close and whisper. “You know, you can tell me? Is someone scaring you or something?” She shakes her head. “No one is scaring me. It’s just…I’m having these nightmares. They’re weird, and I wanted to know what they were about.” “What kind of nightmares.” She shrugs her shoulders. “Like nightmares about monsters and zombie girls.” She leans back on her chair and chuckles. “I sound stupid, just saying it. Can we change the subject?”

Tonight was our first official sleepover in the treehouse, and we'd dragged up sleeping bags, flashlights, and enough snacks to last a week. "Tell me a scary story," Avy said, settling into her sleeping bag. "I don't know any scary stories." "Make one up." "Okay, um..." I pointed my flashlight at my face for dramatic effect. "Once upon a time, there was a girl who read so many books that her eyes fell out." "That's not scary, that's stupid." "Fine. Rosie and my mother had already gone to bed after waiting for some time while the pack members were not informed that I was coming back today. After a bit of chit-chat about the search and the progress, we all decided to head to bed. Lucas had agreed to not tell anyone about my nightmares which was a relief. Her dad asked but she was still panting heavily that she couldn't reply. "I had a nightmare,a strange nightmare"She said taking a deep breath. "What happened in the nightmare?"Her mother asked with the enthusiasm of knowing what happened to her in the nightmare. "I saw two beast,one was a werewolves while one was a vampire..they were chasing me..one was after my brain and the other was after flesh"She replied. "Gosh, when did you began to have the nightmare?"Her dad asked her and she began to itch her hair trying to remember when are started having the dream.
