Nico must have crushed my voice box. The wolf licks my hand and nods his head toward his back. Climbing onto his back, I wrap my hands around his neck and hold on tight.

Nothing. I gasped when a nymph appeared in front of me and pointed at the little wolf. The little wolf beside me barked. I felt him licking my finger tips. Suddenly I felt a little prick on my fingers and saw that the little wolf bit me. "Ow!" If only my arm didn't hurt that bad I would have drawn back but no. I don't care anymore. I grab his hands as he trembles in pain, asking, “Are you okay?” When he doesn't answer, I take his hands in mine, feeling the vibrations of his distress. My hands slide up to his shoulders, and suddenly, he releases a loud growl, echoing through the quiet night.

Her fingertips grazed his fur softly and she gasped at the tingles that danced up her hands. The wolf whined, encouraging her to touch him. Layla looked into his captivating eyes just as her palm touched him, moving slowly through his fur. She was so engrossed that she didn't know when she moved her other hand and ran both her hands through his fur and up to his ears.

However, his hand remains persistent, tracing my movements with unwavering determination. At that very moment, the puppies seemed to catch a whiff of his scent, or perhaps they sensed his presence near me, as they emitted soft growls before retreating and curiously sniffing his hand. Their inquisitive nature led them to give it a playful nip, which made him hiss in response, but he remained still. This amusing sight caused Beast and Bones to burst into laughter, remarking, “Oh, it seems like they're attempting to protect her.”

He yanks my ankle again so that my knee is close to his face. Bending down he opens his mouth, tongue peeking out to lick my wound. The more he licks the stinging sensations die and he frees me of my pain. My struggling stops, my cries turning into soft hiccups and I lay still waiting for him to finish. He licks until the blood dries and the wound closes. My eyes widen as I look at the wound for mother told me bandages healed the wounds but I never knew there were other ways. Did wolves have the ability to do this? I peer back at him as he wipes his mouth with the back of his hand removing the traces of my blood.

There was nothing aggressive about his gesture. A small hesitant smile tugged at the corners of my lips as I felt the rough texture of his tongue against my skin. Relief flooded through me, and I couldn't help but let out a nervous laugh. "You scared me," I said, reaching out tentatively to scratch behind his ears. Killer leaned into my touch, his tongue lolling out in a happy pant. It was as if he could sense my fear and was trying to reassure me in his own doggy way.
