Their veins pulsed brighter the closer they came.
Killian dropped low, shadows coiling into serrated blades. “You’ll have to kill me first.”
“That,” Varrow said, “is the plan.”
The first Bloodforged lunged.
Killian spun under its swing, raking his shadows along its ribs, slicing deep into stitched flesh. It didn’t flinch. Its claw came down again, and Killian barely caught it in a shadow-wrapped grip, the force driving him to one knee.
The second came from behind. He felt the heat of its breath before it struck — and then Daryl was there, blades crossing in a silver flash, catching the claw mid-swipe.
