She wouldn’t have been able to see anyone so as her eyes looked around, she was seeing only black. My eyes scanned the room, looking for my target. At this point, there wasn’t any sign of him. Still, I kept looking at each face of each man that was here. Walking around, quietly, I acted as if I was just making sure no issues were around. Not looking too long but making mental notes of all I could see.

Continuing my rapid stride, my gaze caught sight of a group of individuals stationed at the corner of the desolate street. Cigarettes clung to their fingers, and their inked skin hinted at a potentially menacing presence. An instinctive fear gripped me at the sight of them. Abruptly halting my progress, an intuitive sense warned me that approaching them would invite trouble. With a swift decision, I made up my mind to change course and seek an alternative path. Before I could execute my retreat, I noticed their movement as they rose from their positions. Their unsettling words reached my ears, filled with a mischievous undertone.

"Two hostiles approaching from the right corridor in five seconds." I signaled to my team, and we pressed ourselves against the walls just as two armed men rounded the corner. They never had a chance to raise their weapons. "How are you doing this?" I muttered as we moved past the fallen guards. "The cameras are down, the security system is dark." "I don't need cameras to see, cousin," came the cryptic response. "Take the next right. Three more between you and Amelia. They're nervous – their movements are erratic. Be careful."

With my cloak pulled tightly around my shoulders and my boots fastened, I snuck out of my room and proceeded to make my way towards the area that Dorian had suggested we search last night. As I got closer to the building that looked like a greenhouse I spotted a pair of dark shadows that moved rapidly around the building's corner. I stopped and ducked down, inching closer as I started to hear muffled voices. I managed to press my back against a decorative stone just around the corner from where the shadows were, making it a dangerous place to be since all they had to do was take two steps around the corner and they’d be able to see me, or sense my presence.

I turned around, I saw Kael walking toward me. His expression tightened the moment he saw me. “You shouldn’t be out here, Luna,” he said. “I heard someone talking over there,” I replied quickly, pointing toward the corner. Kael’s eyes flickered for a second before he followed me. Together, we rounded the corner. My steps slowed, but when we reached the corner, there was no one there. The corridor was completely empty. I stared at the spot where I was sure the voice had come from.

My feet moved silently, tracing their path. They vanished into a secluded corner, hidden from prying eyes. Curiosity got the better of me. I crept closer, peeking around the corner. My heart sank. With each passing moment, my worry deepens, urging me to take action. A flicker of movement catches my eye, drawing my attention to the far end of the room. Without a second thought, I dash toward the mysterious figure, my footsteps quick and determined.

“Focus. Do not rush of that you don't get into their trap.” The van turned the corner, the tires screeching faintly against the asphalt. I followed, keeping low, moving with calculated steps, my eyes never leaving it. Every reflection in a nearby window, every sheen on the wet pavement, I checked for masked operatives. Every time I saw one, my stomach twisted.

"I parked around the corner. I wanted to surprise you." I sidestep the door and smooth my palms along the wall, looking for the light switches. I find the panel and finger the switches, looking for the one that lights up the back end of the building. I flick the last two and lights ignite, the dim incandescence chasing away most of the shadows.
