The Wolf's Call (Book 1)
The world folds violently inward and then stretches unnaturally, swallowing me whole as I instinctively dive headfirst into the palpable darkness beneath my feet.
It’s an experience like slipping suddenly underwater, except the water is bone-achingly cold and terrifyingly alive and surrounding everything at once.
A single, terrifying heartbeat later, we slam onto solid, safe ground roughly ten feet away from the original ledge. All three of us are coughing uncontrollably and violently shaking, but we are alive.
I stare down at my hands, transfixed, at the shadows still curling and dissipating around my fingers like thick, residual smoke.
Shadow-walking.
