“Now you can spend more time with Daniel. You two make such a cute couple. His eyes light up every time you’re together.” Amy was a hopeless romantic. She dreamed of a fairy-tale love and a prince charming. Whether it was for her, Chloe, or me, she hoped for it, but since I started working at the Shadow of Sophia, I’d seen the other side of the world—the ugly side of people, the part no one saw. Famous, handsome, rich men revealed their true selves at the Shadow. I rested my chin in my hand, gazing out the window at a patch of blue sky breaking through the heavy clouds. Daniel was like that sliver of sky—my hope for a clear, warm day amid the oppressive gray that always surrounded me.

Amy said calmly, leaving Aaron confused and curious about what she was thinking of doing next. "Yeah...I swear...I didn't do it intentionally." He said and looked embarrassed. "So why did you try to attack my people?" She asked him as she took out her gun. She seemed to be having fun, playing with him making him fear death. He was avoiding eye contact with her, for her eyes were what scared the hell out of people. "I...I thought they were with the police." Sam replied. "Are you lying?" Amy asked and came closer to his face. Her eyes gave off the dark energy that sent chills down his spine. Aaron smiled, for this looked more like Amy, cold and brutal.

he growled, his voice filled with a mix of frustration and malice. Amelia, now emboldened by her ability to resist his power, locked eyes with the Shadow Lord. "You underestimate the strength that comes from unity and the power of love. My pack stands with me, and together, we are unstoppable," she proclaimed with unwavering conviction. A furious howl erupted from the Shadow Lord's throat as he lunged toward her, his claws poised to strike. But just as he closed in, a blinding light burst forth from Amelia's outstretched palm, knocking the Shadow Lord back and sending him sprawling onto the cold stone floor.

To see each other, Sally had seen the fear in hr eyes and it struck hr why Amy took her this far, away from the halloween party and under this goddamn tree in the middle of nowhere. Amy didn’t want to be seen. With another girl at least. “You dont know?” Sally backed off. She had blonde hair, though Amy knew that from the pictures. Streamlined eyes and pointed nose. She had a dark dot as an earring and you could easily guess her style. She was almost like Amy. With colorful themes and eye color and a dark lip gloss. She had a ring on a pair of boots to match her crop top- -a bad decision for the weather that day.

It’s Shadow himself, with his walls, his secrets, his fears, which only seem taller and more impenetrable the closer I get. “You can’t keep carrying everything,” I say suddenly, breaking the silence. He turns to me, raising an eyebrow. “What are you talking about?” “This. You. You always put yourself in the middle, like some kind of human shield… well, lycan shield.” Shadow lets out a dry laugh, but there’s no humor in it. “You don’t understand, Amelia. If I don’t do it, no one else will.” “That’s not true,” I insist, sitting up. “I’m here, remember? I’m not useless.”

Shock and sadness welled within me. I felt the moon goddesses prescience and the anger within her. She was appalled at what Amy was doing. The darkness seemed to be a barrier for her though, and she couldn’t break through to help us. Amy’s dark magic had revealed its true potential. She intended to use it against me. With the moonstone in her possession, Amy chanted incantations, tapping into dark forces I had never imagined she possessed. She must have been planning something like this for awhile now, because she knew exactly what to say and do. The room filled with an eerie glow as she forged a connection between herself, me, and the moon goddess.

Amelia said. "I'm not saying....." Amelia didn't wait for me to finish before she interrupted me. "I can just book an Uber and walk outside myself if you insist," Amelia said. "You will get lost. Oh, you think I go outside and come back inside with an ordinary eye, right? This forest rotates around itself. You can take the path at the back of the house towards the tarred road and come back through the front path," I said, trying to scare her off and she fell for it immediately with the way she held my clothes.
