Shapeshifting Books Novels & Stories

I was eager to read every book they brought me since I felt so full now. I looked at the books in front of me and said, “These are quite a lot, huh.” With a sigh, I picked up the first book I saw and opened it. This appears to be an old book, yet it remains in fine shape. As I look at the front page, I see the title: ‘The Bloodsuckers, Shapeshifters, and Spellcasters.’ I grabbed another heavy book, as heavy as the first one. Its title, ‘The Realm of Lunaria’, convinced me to start reading this first. To readily grasp everything, I must first learn about their realm before I can even begin to know those mysterious beings.

"Take a look." My gaze followed to where he was pointing and my eyes settled on a particular section of the bookshelves. A series of worn leather-bound books caught my attention, each with intricate symbols on the spine. "What are these?" I asked, pointing to the books. Alex's eyes lit up with recognition. "Those are tales that have intrigued me since I was a child. I often come in here to read. Many of the books are legends, but they still hold facts about our history." "Like this one for example," he said, walking to the shelf and plucking a title at random. "It's 'The Secrets of The Panther Shifters.' There really aren't any secrets, it's just a retelling of their history."

“Inspiration doesn’t wait. Besides, you say things too good to waste. Like the coffee brooding? That was gold.” He shook his head, a smirk tugging at his mouth as he ordered two coffees. We grabbed a corner table, Goose still stealing glances from half the café. “So, what’s this book about?” Ace asked once we sat. “Cat shifters,” I said without hesitation. “Epic romance. Sarcastic hero, rambly heroine, lots of claws and passion.” Ace raised a brow. “Sounds familiar.” My cheeks burned. “Coincidence.”

The wolf that emerged snarled at me, smaller than Athena but dangerous in her desperation. I shifted immediately, surrendering to Athena's copper presence with relief. The transformation was swift, familiar now—bones breaking and reforming, muscles stretching and realigning, fur flowing across my skin like liquid fire. Where once the shift had been agony, now it felt like coming home, like stepping into my true self.

Their hands ended all wrong, and their eyes caught the moonlight like animals, burning with intelligence that didn't belong to their current bodies. A cold, focused alertness spread through me, sharper than fear. It was the predator's recognition of something demanding its full attention. "What are they?" I thought, pushing the question to Sky. "Shapeshifters," she replied. "Not wolves. Much older, and far less principled. They can be anything–beast, human, creature. Whatever serves them. Right now, they've chosen intimidation. That tells us a little about who sent them." The six spread out, forming a loose arc that blocked every exit without appearing to try. It was practiced, the movement

"He became you, so much so that at first I didn't realize it and just followed him. But when he led me, I realized he wasn't you. He must be a shapeshifter." "What's a shapeshifter?" I asked, not understanding what Jonathan was talking about. "A supernatural being who can transform into another person," Jonathan said gloomily. "He must have taken something from you before transforming into you and picking me up at the store." I looked at myself, checking for anything missing, something the man who took Jonathan might have taken. "A shapeshifter can transform into anyone they want with just a strand of hair, a fingernail, or the skin of the person they want to impersonate, Mom," Jonathan said

He stood up and removed a book in a hidden compartment of his shelf that I didn't know existed. “This is a book about the shapeshifter witches. It was written by the first King of Ardyth. I stole it from my grandfather when I was still a little boy because I was curious about their powers after he told me a story about them.” He handed the book over to me and took his seat. I opened the first page as Xavier and Rowan came closer to check it out. I read the first page which talked about the process of shape-shifting and my eyes widened at the discovery.

Aynyra was sick of non-believers. "Fine," Rhae chuckled. Rhae began reading the book of children's stories, that told great tales of Fae, Faeries, Pixies, Shapeshifters, Draekons and magic of all kinds. It was inspirational for a book of myths as protagonists overcame challenges over challenges. Fae rode Draekons, Shapeshifters were powerful creatures and Pixies were tricksters who challenged any kind of hierarchy in the magical world.

Usually, shapeshifters aren't that good in combat but they are great at making strategies and thinking. "Tell me why you've been following her everywhere," I asked with gritted teeth. He coughed a little before answering. "We know she has the book. In order to take possession of it, she must be killed." Shit, they knew. That wasn't good. The way he said we must've meant that the whole shapeshifter race probably knows too. Maybe even other races. "I do not know what you're talking about." Of course, I knew, I just didn't want to admit it openly even though it was making me sound stupid.

She walked up to me, taking a quick glance at the old book on the table and pointed at the word I was looking at just now, "'Myrmecoleon', an ant-lion hybrid. I highly doubt Sarah is one, but considering her abilities, she may be able to shape-shift into it." Oh. Wait, an ant-lion hybrid? How does that even work? Off point. "So she is a shapeshifter, but what kind?" "A special kind that I don't think you can find so easily by flipping through these enormous stacks of books." She said, her icy blue eyes racking over all the books I had pulled down from the numerous shelves in here. "I don't know what to do." I said, sounding frustrated as I plopped back down on my seat.
