I look at my shaking hand and i try to stop it from shaking like this but alas, he messed me up, he ruined me and nothing will change that. I curl it into a fist, my nails digging into my palm, so hard that it pains but i don't stop. "I am okay, everything is okay." I whisper to myself, again and again to keep myself from breaking down, "It'll be okay." I say. But deep down, i know it won't. I close my eyes when i hear a loud glass shuttering sound from behind me, it was followed by loud thud of slamming a door shut. I open the bathroom's door and take a look inside the room and like i thought the mirror is now on the floor, he shattered it into pieces, just like he did to me.

For just a second the pain stopped. I quickly opened up the book to a random page once the aching in my chest started back up. The first page I set eyes on didn't even have a fighting chance. I stabbed it and tore though it not even giving anyone a chance to react. Slowly the page started to catch on fire and ash instantly formed. Once the page completely turned to ash I lifted up the book and brushed off the pieces that use to be the page. A siren started inside the room and multiple screens filled the walls. I spun around going through all universes and landed on the universe I knew it was reporting on.

The book quivered in resistance to her touch, and the chains tightened around Vincent even more tightly. Vincent cried out, “Camela!” She screamed back, gripping the cover tightly with both hands and pulling it apart forcefully. The book tore cleanly down the middle. The noise wasn’t the sound of paper tearing. It was flesh ripping apart. Her chest burned, as if something inside her was ripped too. She stumbled forward, gasping for air, blood smearing her lips. The chains broke apart, exploding into sparks. Vincent caught her and held her shivering body with horror in his eyes.

The second Thursday, she stayed for forty-seven minutes. They did not talk about Vanessa. They did not talk about the past. They talked about a book. The Remains of the Day, which she had been rereading because it was the only novel she had brought with her from London. He had read it. He had hated the ending. She had loved the ending. They argued about it for forty minutes, and by the time dessert came, she was laughing once. Not a real laugh. A half one. But it escaped her mouth before she could stop it, and Damien looked at her like a man watching the sunrise after a long night.

I interrupted. Her cheeks went red, and her eyes brightened. With a groan, I shook my head. My wolf was growling at me even before I said, “It’s not worth crying over.” The book blew up. Every page lit on fire as it burst outward, flying in every direction. A chunk of the flaming spine hit me square in my chest. I batted it away, yelping in shock. There was a slight burn where it’d hit me, but nothing bad. I stomped out the flames and made my way to the other bits of burning paper, putting out the fires.

The creatures screeched and burned as they touched the fire, but more kept coming, kept pressing, kept trying to find a way through. The noise was deafening. The heat from Kael's shield was intense, and sweat dripped down my face. The ground beneath us began to shake, cracks forming in the stone as the fire heated the rock. Then the floor gave way. I screamed as I fell, the torch flying from my hand, the darkness swallowing me whole. I felt Kael's arms wrap around me, felt his body twist beneath mine, felt him pull me against his chest and cover me with himself. Then everything went blank.

My chest heaved, my breath coming fast and uneven, my head spinning with hatred… with jealousy… with failure.

My legs carried me before my mind could catch up, storming out of the room, and down the halls until I reached the library. The moment the door shut, I broke. Rage, shame, heat! Everything tangled until I wanted to tear my skin off. I couldn't breathe. Everything was too neat, and carefully arranged. The order of it mocked the chaos burning inside me. I grabbed the nearest book, one of his timeless journals, and shoved it to the ground. The sound made me flinch, but it loosened something in me. If I couldn’t hurt him, I could damn well destroy what he cared about.
