Cold. Unbothered. “You’ll drain them,” I whispered. “You’ll take their light, their spirit… their lives. You’ll leave nothing behind but shadows.”

Orrian asked, his voice full of surprise. "Mates." Kian added dangerously, his voice was so cold. His hand cupped my neck, brushing the collar of his tunic down so Orrian could see the mark that branded my skin and claimed me as his. After a few rings the line went through, with Xavier's voice speaking. “You really have a lot of guts and it's interesting.” Morgan smiled. “What do you mean?” Xavier's anxious voice. “You can't figure it out? What's happening to your brain lately?” Morgan mocked. Meanwhile, Xavier sat inside his car about to ignite the engine, when Morgan's call came in. He decided to take the call, but Morgan's words were creepy the hell out of him. Beads of sweat were draped on his forehead, as Morgan's teasing yet dangerous voice filled his ear.

I didn't know what I was expecting but I honestly hoped there was a mistake somewhere. “Are you certain that's what happened?” I find myself asking, unwilling to believe she held a grudge so bad she wanted to kill a wolf. “Unless everyone lied to me, including Morgan, then that's what happened.” He gritted, I could tell he wasn't finding my incessant questions pleasant. “Morgan's awake?” “Yes. She is. Thanks to her werewolf healing, Shilhi was able to quicken the process. Do you want to see her?”
