My heart stopped beating, hoping not to expose myself to Cole, but a vampire appeared before us, jumping from a tree branch as if waiting for an opportunity to have its first meal. I see surprise in his eyes, before they burn with anger. He shakes my blow off and lunges for me at inhuman speed. “You are nothing but a weak little girl.”
