When I finished, silence returned. This time it felt heavier. The kind of silence that carried memories. Old ones. Dangerous ones. Silas looked away first. Toward the forest. Toward the darkness. Toward something only he could see. And for the first time since meeting him, he appeared tired. Not physically. Emotionally. Like a man carrying a weight no one else could see. The sight caught me off guard. Because it made him seem real. Not the billionaire. Not the Eraser.

"With cameras on every corner, Charles won't be able to hide for long. He's bound to be caught any minute now." Olivia had barely hung up when a loud knock rattled my door. I did not bother opening it. Instead, I peered through the digital peephole and saw the unmistakable silhouette. "Charles, I can see you out there. Don't mess up again. Turn yourself in, and maybe you can get a second chance," I called out. The knocking grew fiercer as Charles heard me. He was cursing up a storm, but I tuned him out, still pushing for him to give up.

Only silence. Fade to black.

Lucas. Lily. Eva. Noah. Daniel. Elias. Charles. Jonathan. Mara. Marcus. Adam. Mother Zero. The creator. The Silence. All present. Then Lucas slowly looked toward the floor. A shadow stood beneath Elena. But it did not match her body. Elena stopped breathing. The shadow moved while she remained still. It stepped away from her feet. Rose against the wall. Then detached completely. A woman-shaped darkness stood before them. Mara whispered:

Silent. Burning.

The soft flicker of candlelight cast shadows across the room as Enzo sat in silence, staring into the tumbler of whiskey in his hand. He could hear Sienna moving about in the next room, her presence both a comfort and a torment. Marco’s final words echoed in his mind: You can’t change, Enzo. Men like us? We don’t get to choose. “Whiskey for your thoughts?” Sienna’s voice broke the stillness, light and teasing, though her eyes carried a deeper concern as she stepped into the room.

The entire pack hall fell instantly silent. The doors burst open with a bang, and Nolan stormed in, the full weight of the Silverglade Pack’s leadership trailing nervously behind him. The moment he threw me a heartbeat's glance, Janine, who was still holding the knife aloft, was flung violently across the hall by an invisible force. She smashed through three support pillars and landed embedded deep in the far wall. Despite being Silverglade’s top warrior, Aiden had already collapsed into a trembling heap on the floor. Faelan, who was finally free, leapt up and ran to Nolan, sobbing as he threw himself into his father’s arms.

Dismayed Trish didn’t bother to reply her she reached to open the heavy door. Connie moved to help her and they both started laughing at how heavy the door was. Leading the way, Connie went inside and the heavy door closed behind Trish with a loud thud that made them jump as they found themselves in a short dark hallway. Holding hands they moved inside and the place was empty and dimly lit with the only light and low sound coming from the bar. They walked towards the light hoping to find someone but the counter was empty. ‘What do we do now, this place looks dead to me and as you can see Emma is not here.’ Trish whispered desperate to leave, the place was making her uncomfortable.

"I'm sorry, Grace. The forest really isn't safe. I have to find him. I promise I'll come back and finish this with you." I gave him a faint smile, though I could barely breathe through the pain in my chest. He would not come back once he left. That was always how it ended. As he bent down to comfort Laila, I quietly poured the bond-breaking potion into the wine glass. I walked over and held it out to him, my voice soft but firm. "Finish this, and I'll forgive you." Philip smiled and finished it in one gulp. He put the glass down and left with Laila without a second glance.
