"I'm sorry, Grace. The forest really isn't safe. I have to find him. I promise I'll come back and finish this with you." I gave him a faint smile, though I could barely breathe through the pain in my chest. He would not come back once he left. That was always how it ended. As he bent down to comfort Laila, I quietly poured the bond-breaking potion into the wine glass. I walked over and held it out to him, my voice soft but firm. "Finish this, and I'll forgive you." Philip smiled and finished it in one gulp. He put the glass down and left with Laila without a second glance.

“You’re not alone anymore. Something followed you through the thread.” A shadow split from the realm’s edge, long and jagged, stitched from lies and stitched by them. It wasn’t the Spiral. It wasn’t the gods. It was what they’d feared: The Silence Between Threads. A force that fed on forgetting, on unraveling meaning until only noise remained. Selena stepped forward, now wreathed in the light of the Only Temple, and raised her hand. Threads danced between her fingers like blades. “You were never part of the truth. You were the hole they dug to bury it.”

The only light in the room was a bare bulb hanging from its electric wires, and it was sent swinging, throwing dancing shadows across everything. Emily's attention snapped over to see what the commotion was, and she found two men standing the doorway, framed by the aged wood. At first, she could only make out their silhouettes in the darkness, and a hint of features as the light swung their way. Then they moved more fully into the room, and she got a clear view of them.

The echo of the forest’s rage lingered — trees clawing at me, the earth splitting, the wind shrieking. Within the blink of an eye, silence draped itself over everything — A heavy, dead silence. Its wifht pressed down even much more, draining life our of me. But with every passing moment that life slips out of me, it feeds this dead silence like a zombie feeds on brains. And so, this silent wasn't dead anymore. It now had a pulse. I might still be a subject to delusion because it felt like this silence had a voice too. I heard a faint hum rolled through the emptiness until suddenly a flicker of light exploded through the air.

Harlan shouts, reaching for a weapon he isn't allowed to carry in the UN. "I am the Silence," the entity says. "I am the one who watched you from the dark." The black spot on the map. The predator Aria saw. "Your network is loud," the Silence says. "It is chaotic. It is... inefficient." The screens flash red. "I have come to bring order." BOOM. The windows of the Grand Hall blow inward. Not from a bomb. From a sonic pulse. Screams erupt. The crowd stampedes. "Get the kids!" I scream, shoving Alex toward Aria.

"The Silent Ones. Not the cult. The original Silent Ones. Wolves who made a pact with the void. They exist in the spaces between. They do not have bodies. They do not have minds. They are pure shadow." "How do we fight something that does not have a body?" "You do not. You survive it." The weeks pass. The presence returns. Every night. At first, it is just a feeling. A cold spot in the room. A whisper at the edge of hearing. Then it grows stronger. Kael notices. "You are not sleeping." "I cannot. Every time I close my eyes, I see it." "See what?" "A shape. A wolf made of shadow. It stands at the foot of the bed and watches me."

The exhaustion from my emotions dragged me away into the darkness easily. I closed my heavy eyes as my subconscious took over. The dark abyss appeared around me. Pure darkness with no escape. I wasn't falling, instead standing on the water but never being wet. I heard the ticking of the clock. Tick, tick, tick. Panic was rising. I had no idea what the ticking was or where it was coming from, but something deep inside me knew it was not good. I felt like it signaled the end. But the end of what was unclear.

Chapter 24 – Guilty Third persons pov He couldn't take it anymore cursing under his breath he got up from his bed and walk towards where he left haya, he unlocked the suite and entered in, he was welcomed by the silence, suddenly a fear ran down his spine and shivered thinking of all the unwanted things which could have happened, getting rid of it, he walked towards the room and found his wife lying on the cold floor unconscious.

His fingers flew over the interface, adjusting the settings she had demanded that afternoon. The amber lights dimmed, then vanished entirely. For a heartbeat, there was total, terrifying darkness. Then, a single, focused beam of white light descended from the ceiling, illuminating only the petrified wood desk and the two chairs facing each other. Everything else—the bookshelves, the corners of the room, the ceiling—was swallowed by an impenetrable black. "Sit," Silas commanded. Lyra sat. Across from her, Silas remained standing in the shadows just outside the pillar of light. He looked like a specter, his white shirt glowing faintly, his face a collection of sharp angles and deep shadows.
