I didn't like him. The next time I saw Sir Lancelot I asked him about my mum and Larry. He agreed with me. He said that Larry sounded like the kind of man who deserved to be put to the sword. So I reminded him that he had said he would help me if ever I needed help, or if ever I came across a maiden in distress, and this seemed to fit both descriptions. I muttered, with my heart in my throat. Suddenly, one of the medium wolves moved away from the fight and ran towards me. I saw his eyes fixed on me. My children were in the car. He knew. Before I could react, a shadow passed in front of me. Lancelot. He threw himself on the enemy with brutal violence, so fast that I could hardly keep up. The impact knocked them both to the ground a few feet from me, and the growl that Lancelot let out was so fierce that my legs shook.

The shadow lunged at me, massive and formless, but I stood my ground. I summoned everything within me, my power crackling in my veins like an untamed storm. “You can’t take what’s mine,” I shouted, pushing back with a surge of energy. The shadow recoiled but didn’t retreat. Its voice came again, deep and resonant. “You misunderstand. You were never its master.” Before I could respond, something slammed into me from the side, knocking me off balance. I hit the ground hard, rolling to avoid the sharp claws of one of the shadow creatures. Gideon rushed to my side, driving a blade into the beast’s neck.

She rolled her eyes. “The Moon Goddess?! Yeah sure.” Shadow scoffed. “If you ARE the Moon Goddess, prove it.” Shadow demanded. Selene glared at Shadow and huffed. “Shadow and Jennifer Collins. How are your pups?” she asked. “How are Spyder and Spencer? Isn’t their mate expecting along with her cousin?” Shadow glared and Jen released a low growl. “How do you know our names? And how do you know about all our pups?” Jen snarled. Shadow had his arm around his mate’s waist. It wasn’t to protect her from Selene but more to keep her from pouncing on Selene.

A red shockwave hit the battlefield, and many creatures were sent flying back to reveal the figure within their midst. Arthur stood proudly, his large red sword shining brightly. The Shadow Leopard stood in front of him wearily. It had a few wounds on its back, and its earlier grandeur had been largely destroyed. Arthur wasn’t unscathed either.
