Skimming Through A Book Novels & Stories

She could destroy anything with a single scream of frustration. Walking along the shelves, my fingers run along the books when I see a book that seems to be calling to me. Moving towards it, I pick it up and turn the pages, just scanning the contents when the pages move on their own, stopping on a page. Reading the contents of the page, my beast snarls in my head. “Don’t you fucking dare do this Fen!” I shake my head with a sigh. Closing the book, it opens again to the page I was looking at.

Labelling me, with others saying all sorts of terrible things. I took a deep breath and just read my book. The time passed, my hand waving in the air with a butterfly flying all around me and tickling me as it brushed over my skin. I brushed it off now and again but there seemed to be more than one. My head tipped up, looking around me to find so many butterflies all around me. My eyes shot out, standing up with the book shut.

To her , it was as if she had read this language before . ' ........Maybe I read this language in a book or something....?!......No idea in which book though ! ' thought Kiara and touched the book then walked . When she touched some books , she felt like they were the ones she was looking for and took them with her without even opening it . Terry and Luna looked at her with a confused expression . " Luna ! " said Terry . " Yes ?! " said Luna . " Do humans usually chose books without even opening them ?! " said Terry while looking at Kiara .

Then he explained his action which had done nothing to soften the glower but had definitely added a crease between her eyebrows. She turned her head and browsed a section at the left corner of the room. She muttered silently under breath as her eyes scanned from the top shelf and glided down to the very bottom and traced the spines back up. She then took out a book from the middle row— a thick, old book with its tattered cover and yellowed pages. She skimmed through the pages until her gaze fixed on one and her eyes rapidly moved from one word to another. “I think...I think...it’s a bond withdrawal,” she murmured without glancing up. “What?” Dorian quirked an eyebrow.

Casually skimming through one, it took him a few hours to get to its last. Looking at the other two, he took a quick break by noting down some terms in his electric notepad. After a quick summary, he then read the second book, reading to its half, he left it there.

He just syphons out the information that is of relevance to tell me and Jake, so we wait with bated breath for him to talk again. Nikita huffs and leaves again, going back to the kitchen in a strop. I haven’t got time to deal with her over emotional need for attention right now so I ignore her and carry on looking over through the big book in my lap, desperate to find anything that can help. I stretch my arms high into the air above me and arch my back inwards, trying to relieve some of the aching pain form reading for so long. In the corner of the room, just in the shadows where the light doesn’t quite reach I notice a small tattered book. I place the book I had been reading onto the floor

Ariellas pov "Okay." I whispered. Every nerve in my body was on fire. I could feel the regret already creeping in before I even got started. I already knew that all the beginning pages were maps so I just grabbed a chunk of the pages and flipped to the middle. I made haste at skimming the pages so I wouldn't be here all day. "Why didn't you look through the beginning?" Tod asked as he leaned over to look down. It wasn't like he could read it but still I moved the book closer to my chest.

I absent-mindedly took a book from a shelf and leafed through it, staring blankly at the inked pages. “Can I help you?” ___________

I opened the book, the pages releasing a faint, musty scent as they turned. As I flipped through the pages, my fingers lightly traced the intricate runes etched into the parchment. Each symbol seemed to pulse faintly beneath my touch, as if responding to my presence. The further I delved into the book, the stronger the sensation grew—a peculiar warmth spreading from my fingertips, curling up my arms and settling deep within my chest.

My heart leaped with hope as I approached the section, quickly pulling out a few volumes. “Well, here goes nothing,” I murmured to myself, selecting a particularly dusty tome. The book was heavy and worn, its cover adorned with faded gold lettering. I wiped away the dust and carefully opened it, the pages crackling softly in the silence. The satisfying scent of aged paper filled my nostrils, evoking a sense of ancient wisdom and forgotten knowledge.
