Fierce return of an omega
They sense the strange magic coiled tightly beneath her skin like a restrained storm.
“She doesn’t smell like us,” one of the elders murmurs.
“She smells like power,” another answers. I bare my teeth slightly, a silent warning. The murmurs die.
Rieka arrives late. Deliberately. She wears silver and white, Luna colors meant to remind the pack of her status. Her chin is high, her expression controlled but her scent betrays her.
Fear. Jealousy. Rage.
Good.
I raise my hand, commanding silence.
“Today,” I announce, voice carrying effortlessly, “we begin a bond of protection and claim.” A ripple moves through the crowd.
