I signaled the guards to release him. He sank to the floor, drained. He looked at me with a complicated expression like he wanted to say something, but no words came out. “That’s all about it. The two of you can wait for the court summons.” “Oh, and to everyone who attended this auction. Your recordings of exploiting underage girls and organizing group debauchery have all been documented. I’ll be handing those to the police, too.”

“Sabrina doesn’t like being found. That’ll cost you.” Yvonne smiled, blowing smoke in his direction. “Name your price.” They negotiated while I stood there, heart pounding. Yvonne was calm, confident, playing the game like she’d done it a hundred times. The guy eventually nodded. “Fine. I can track her burner locations. Give me twenty minutes.” While he worked, Yvonne smoked another cigarette, leaning against the counter like she owned the place. I stayed quiet, nerves eating at me. When the guy finally looked up from his screens, he had an address scribbled on a piece of paper. But then his eyes landed on me again. He stared for a long second, tilting his head.

“You look perfectly fine. Please excuse me. You are crushing me.” He got up and she sat up, adjusting her hair. “I have gone through worse,” He said. “This is nothing. Bullets don’t scare me anymore.” Lisa sighed. “You are used to it. I am not,” She admitted. “I will get used to it with time.” He smiled and she frowned. “Why are you smiling?” He didn’t answer. Because she just said she would stay. That she would get used to his world. That she wasn’t leaving. “It’s late,”
