I would have been upset with myself if I had killed any of these beautiful creatures. They suddenly turned around and ran back to two other wolves standing in the tree line by the road on the left. One was a light shade of red, and the other a smoky gray wolf with white on its paws. The gray one reminded me of a cat I used to have growing up that we named Smoky. He had the exact same colors. “This has got to be the coolest thing I’ve seen in a while,” I said, completely in awe. I had never seen wolves before, but they were beautiful and massive. I would say they are the same height as a Great Dane, if not taller.

I don’t even realize I’m screaming until the sound rips out of me, loud, piercing. Suddenly, a silver light bursts from my body, exploding outward in a shockwave. It slams into the wolves, forcing them back, hissing as the smoke pours off their skin. They scream in unison, the hair on my body rising against the horrible sound. The ground shakes, and the trees shudder. For a second, the day darkens from the smoke pouring off the wolves. Damnit, how the hell did I do that?

The night was beautiful and cool, but warm enough with all the fires and the company was amazing. All of a sudden there was a loud scream and black wolves raced in, circling the clearing and dropping leather sacks into the fire pits. In the chaos, there were telling and small eruptions from the fire pits as a weird purple smoke rose from the fires and settled heavily in our lungs, making things hazy and everyone broke out into coughing fits.
