"Hayle, wake up." A gentle bass voice whispered into Hayle's ear, instantly rousing him from a dream he had already forgotten upon waking. His smile emerged as he saw the familiar face lying beside him, not far away. Hayle stretched, still longing to sink back into the warmth of his bed. It almost felt unreal being in a place covered in snow. Rolling his body and glancing around, his eyes widened at the sight of the sky, now transformed into a breathtaking scene of orange mixed with grey, touched with hints of white and pale blue.

Trembling, I reached out to wipe away the thick layer of condensation fogging up the large mirror. As my reflection cleared and became visible, my chest tightened in absolute, paralyzing horror. My long-standing black hair, starting from the roots beneath the warm water, was rapidly turning into a pure, pristine white, like the first snow of the season. My near-sighted eyes, blurred without glasses, could now clearly see every single crevice on the wall, but my pupils had shifted into a feral, vertical slit of icy blue. And most terrifying of all... right on top of my head,

Now I’m just naked and freezing. “Just great… I’m pretty sure I lost my backpack as well.” I sighed sitting on the cold ground, I needed to rest I kept seeing double and I Knew I was going to collapse any second. I heard branches and twigs snapping somewhere near me, I felt panicked. Did he already find me? Is it the warriors? I looked around frantically trying to find the source of that noise when I saw A huge black wolve come out of the bushes lowly growling before I lost consciousness.

Her voice sounded so far away. “Ma'am? I need to get the box.” When I finally looked up, I saw that at least 15 people surrounded me. I slowly extended my arm to hand her the box. Someone took that as a sign and handed me a bottle of water. “ Snow?. Snow? You're pale. You should have some water. Snow?” The world spun and then everything went black. When I woke up I was in a hospital room with a nurse by my bed, taking vitals.

Tyr took out the silver needle he always carried with him and stabbed it into an acupuncture point on Snow’s body. Soon, Snow woke up from her trance, and the color returned to her face too. As she opened her eyes, she immediately froze when she saw Tyr in front of her. “Tyr… Big Brother Tyr, why are you here? Am I dreaming?” asked Snow. Tyr shook his head. “You are not dreaming. Can you get up? Do you need me to help you up?” Staggering, Snow managed to sit up in bed. As she looked at her surroundings, a deep fear could be seen on her face once again.

“We must tell the Wizard at once.” “That I scream like a girl?” I offered hopefully. She didn’t even blink. “No.” She turned to me, her gaze intense, almost reverent. “That your power has awakened.” Snow didn’t wait for me to catch my breath. She took off running, her boots pounding against the dirt as she headed for the Wizard’s hut. I stumbled after her, my pulse still racing, my palms tingling with faint traces of warmth where the light had burst out of me. By the time we pushed through the hut’s wooden door, the Wizard was already standing by the hearth, as if he had been expecting us. His eyes, sharp and ancient, flicked from Snow’s flushed face to mine.

I fall asleep, smiling at the idea of Snow and I finding a place that we can call home. I’m not sure how much later it is, but the sun has moved in the sky so that it is no longer hitting me. I open my eyes, wondering what woke me. I turn my head and see that Snow is moving around, agitated. “Snow, is something wrong?” I ask him. He turns to look at me and it’s at that moment that I hear a loud crack, followed immediately by Snow’s scream of pain.

A few hours ago. Snow’s voice cut sharply through my sleep. 'You need to wake up!' My heavy eyes flew open. For a moment, I stared blankly at the ceiling, trying to understand what she meant. The room was pitch black. Not a single ray of moonlight slipped through the curtains, as if the sky itself had died. I turned my head toward the bedside table. The glowing numbers on the clock read eleven. I had barely slept for thirty minutes. 'Snow? What happened? Kael did not cry. Why are you waking me so early?'

Snow opened her eyes then shut it again. She had been awake since twelve in the morning and could not bring herself to fall asleep. Every time Snow strives to drift off to sleep, the images of her parents come rushing back to her mind, then she would have to open her teary eyes and stare at the blank ceiling.
