Solid Wood Rotating Bookshelf Novels & Stories

I trailed my hands over one of the shelves, my fingertips brushing gently over the leather bindings of some old books. I continued to look around the library and was amazed at how many books there were. Wall to wall, floor to ceiling bookshelves covered each wall and were filled. This was probably the only room that I've seen that felt welcoming and warm. A large table with two lamps sat in the middle of the room, books sitting in a neat stack on it. Eight chairs surrounded the table, with enough space between each chair to not seem crowded. All the furniture seemed to be identical. They all were cherry oak. They looked old but well taken care of.

Either she had triggered something her ears could not detect, or she had actually been fast enough not to set off any alarm. The room smelled of old; musty, moldy, a tinge of mahogany. The books were placed in circular shaped shelves that covered the walls, with the only exception of Annabelle's spacious and padded window seat. Besides that, there was an armchair and a sofa, both dark brown leather, high-backed, and very comfortable, made with oak wood, and served as the usual spot in which the helper in turn, spent as much time as Annabelle chose to stay there. But I ignored the questions running in my mind and took my time to scan the room before walking into it. The room unfolded before me like a forgotten crypt of knowledge—vast, ancient, and breathing with dust and memory. Tall shelves rose from floor to ceiling, carved from dark alder wood that had long since lost its polish, with edges that curled like old tree bark, and every beam groaned softly with age. Thousands of books lined the shelves, their spines cracked, their leather faded to deep wine-reds, bruised purples, and soot-black. Some sagged sideways from neglect, others stood rigid as though still guarding secrets not meant for mortal hands.

It was large, made of solid oak. You could see that the bottom shelf was at least five inches off the ground but there was no panel I could take off. Slowly I tried to move the shelf, cursing when I realised it was bolted to the wall.

It’s a good thing I’m well versed in building, so I made a two-level shoe cubicle that is motorized to move like a Ferris wheel in the sense that instead of only holding a dozen pairs of shoes, it can hold two dozen. The fancy shoe storage wasn’t the only new thing I’ve built. I’ve completed the furniture for the dining room. I made an oblong table out of flame mahogany that can extend to seat ten. The two leaves can be added or removed to suit the occasion by a unique winding mechanism. The table is raised on turned and fluted tapering legs that terminate in brass cap castors, making it easy to move when required. I was proud of the design for this one.
