My mate takes a step forward, and places a hand on my face, his skin glowing. “Let me help you,” his voice is purely Hawthorne now, Hex retreating enough for my friend to shine through. “Let’s finish the spell.”
“I don’t want to force you, Sparks. We can bring Sorrel back, or another for me to mark. It doesn’t have to be you.”
“No,” Sparks shakes his head. “I want, no need, to be the one.”
