I felt Seraphine's hand tighten around mine. "Look at me," Seraphine said. I looked at her. Her gold eyes were less sharp than they'd been ten minutes ago but they were present and steady and focused on my face. "Breathe," she said. "Slowly. The baby responds to your cortisol levels. Panic makes the pain worse and the pain makes the panic worse." Her voice was quiet and direct and completely certain. "Breathe and tell me what you feel." I breathed. In through my nose. Out slowly.

I scream. My scream cracks deeply the bronze throne. It only crack. It breaks it not. My claws retreat. Sane with my glowing eyes. They stop and revert to normal. I exhale heavily. My breathing and heart beating heightens. It's thumping sounds escape through my agape lips. They agape as hot thick heavy breath. My fallen head finally tilt upwards Every heavy thumping and breaths depletes. My emotions reverts to normal. I smile. "Sorry for the misunderstanding".

“Really calm.” Paul smiled, a genuine, pleased smile that made Leonard’s heart do a funny little flip. “Excellent. This is a tool you can use anywhere. When you feel the anxiety rising, just take a moment, focus on your breath.” Paul moved back to his chair, the professional distance restored. But the ghost of his touch remained on Leonard’s wrist, a brand of warmth.

My chest continued to weep with crimson drops, and he shook his head. "Let's get you under control first," his voice went soft, putting his hands on my arms. I had rolled up the white shirt exposing my skin and for a reason unknown to me, my body calmed, my body felt like jelly. "I have a touch compulsion to calm," he murmured. Meadow and I stand beside each other and begin chanting the spell. We dip our hand into our pot of potion and watch as the potion absorbs into the spell and disappears. “Whoa, that’s really cool. But what does it do?” Reagan asks. “It sends up an alarm when someone with an evil intent to the pack comes through. It won’t harm them and it won’t stop them, but it will give us warning,” Meadow tells her.

I remained stoic, my body rigid with an icy demeanor. His voice was low and soothing as he spoke, "Artemis, I want you to be calm." He appeared to be yearning for peace at this very moment.
