Maria hastened the process for us and had the potion ready by the early morning of the third day. She packed the bottle and handed it to me. Unable to contain my curiosity, I took it out for a closer look. It was a bottle of deep blue liquid, exuding an aura of formidable power even to the naked eye. I took a sniff and immediately regretted it; the stench was unbearable, far worse than the smell of decay. A potion like this, I thought, might just be lethal if consumed.

The surrounding air shimmered, creating a protective barrier. The potion was activated, and her essence was safeguarded. With a satisfied smile, Deluna turned and sealed the vial, her task complete. The candlelight dipped below the horizon, casting the room in a soft, lunar glow.

In her hands, she held a small chest. “Zoe,” she began, her tone brisk but kind. “The witches have done all they can. The weapons are enhanced with spells to pierce even the strongest wards and dark protections. The potions will restore strength, bolster energy and in some cases, grant temporary resistance to the effects of dark magic.” She opened the chest, revealing several vials of shimmering liquid in hues of gold, crimson and icy blue. “These are the most potent we’ve made. Use them wisely.” Zoe took the chest, nodding in gratitude. “Thank you, Ellara. For everything.”

"He kept showing up when I felt worst. Said weird things about my energy." A beat of silence. Then Derek exhaled, shaking his head. "Energy draining is rare. Some call it ‘witch sickness.’ There’s no real cure, just… prevention." He abruptly changed the subject, pulling a book from the shelf. "This spell sharpens memory. Temporary, but useful before exams." As he leaned in to point out a passage, his shoulder brushed hers—and he froze. "Your magic," he murmured. "It feels… different." Rita forced a laugh. "Probably Pru’s amulet." She tapped the charm at her throat—a decoy.

Emotions change things, they get in the way of what needs to be done and they pollute and taint magic. It’s much more difficult to make the hard decisions if feelings get involved. Feeling that the opportunity was almost right, he took out the Divided Soul Pot together, squeezed a spell, and silently recited the spell in his mouth, but saw that Divided Soul Pot's golden light flashed, and then a green ray of light poured into the top of the pot.
