The glacier under moonlight resembled a slumbering beast—silent, cold, waiting to devour the careless.
Suddenly, Xander slipped. His paw lost traction, nearly sending him tumbling into a hidden chasm.
Hudson lunged forward, sinking his teeth into Xander’s scruff, pulling him back.
“Focus!” Hudson growled low. “It can’t be her.”
“…Yeah. I know.”
Xander closed his eyes for a second. When he opened them again, they burned with a cold resolve.
